We have now parked the motorhome for the winter. We got a question about it: "Do you really park motorhomes in the winter? Don't you use them all year round?" The answer is that you do what you want. Of course you can use your motorhome all year round. Some makes and models are better suited to winter use than others, but usually it's fine.
A little more difficult in winter
But it's true that motorhomes are a bit more complicated in winter. Especially if you have the motorhome parked outside in the cold. You have to empty it of water and everything else that can't stand sub-zero temperatures, and then it's a lot of work to start it up again.
We usually don't use our motorhome between November and February, when we empty it of water, food, technology and bedding. This year we are unpacking it unusually early because we are busy with the houseboat. And if you don't use the motorhome, you might as well park it. The insurance will be much cheaper then!

We also cancelled our motorhome yesterday. People who, for example, ski a lot can benefit from a motorhome/caravan even in winter, but that doesn't apply to us.
We then drive to the mountain hut and use a couple of snowmobiles for excursions in the surroundings.

We have also cancelled our tent. This year we didn't even put it up...
🙂
Don't know if I've possibly become a tad... comfortable? There are so many good - and cheap - hotels out there. This year we've been content to take the camping fridge with us.
😉

Henny, some people really enjoy the motorhome in the winter. But for us, the rest of the year is enough!
Rolle and Carina, always a bit sad to put it down, but then you can look forward to spring!
🙂
Ama de casa, haha... although the motorhome is quite comfortable. At least as a 3-star hotel (at least if someone else makes breakfast).
😉
Deciree, yes haha, that's how it must be! And yet I thought we were a little early this year ...

Yes, today we have washed, scrubbed and picked up bedding and washed the exterior and now we think it is ready to put down for the winter. It feels a little sad every time........ but there will be a new spring and summer, so now it gets to rest a little......

It's great to have flexible homes that can be put away and brought out again when needed.

Tomorrow our Carthago will park with her friends at the barn. There she can stay and cuddle until spring - then she will be released on green pasture again 😉.
