Backpacking is not the most comfortable way to travel. Nevertheless, 24 per cent of Swedes have travelled the world with only a backpack as their luggage. A survey by Skyscanner shows that there are many reasons to backpack.

We will be backpacking in the Philippines this winter. It's been quite a while since we travelled with just a backpack, but when we think back, those are the trips we have the best memories of. And we can probably agree with the freedom and adventure part! Have you ever backpacked, and what is your experience?

I have backpacked, but I was much younger then. Now I'm too comfortable for that. But it was... heavy but fun.

In my younger days, I have travelled by train through Europe in various stages. It was not comfortable but exciting to go out for the first time at the age of 16. I can thank my parents for allowing me to do this. In the USA I have backpacked for a few months and then also in Hawaii. Wonderful memories and experiences and then there was a small tent that was used diligently. Renting a car, travelling around and even sleeping in the car was another option we tried in the US. But, unfortunately, the comfort has taken over in the autumn of age. But I like travelling and it is part of my life.

Nowadays I am far too comfortable. I can't imagine exchanging the "luxury life" in the motorhome for a heavy backpack and an alcoholic kitchen....

Ditte, you have done so many exciting and interesting trips! We still like to backpack, but that doesn't mean we camp....
😉
Across the board, motorhomes are comfortable! We are happy to travel with a backpack, but not with an alcoholic kitchen. It will be a hotel
🙂
