Just when you start to relax, there's a setback... When Peter went into the boiler room today, he discovered water running down the wall. Panic! He looked along all the pipes and tore down the ceiling. No pipes were broken. Instead, it seems that large amounts of rainwater have leaked in through the kitchen window and run down the walls. Not good!
A little back story
We try to dry up as much as possible, and temporarily seal around the windows. Later, we will have to replace the panelling and insulation. Changing the windows is part of the planning anyway. A bit disappointing of course, but luckily it happened when Peter was home!

How lucky that Peter was home! I actually feel a little (= a lot) sorry for you. You who have worked hard and done so well and now everything is torn up again. Fortunately, you are so incredibly handy and seem to have the world's patience.
I have to say that I'm quite happy in an HSB apartment where I can call the caretaker, because we have our thumb in the middle of our hand, so to speak...

No, no, no! What bad luck. I understand that you panicked. I also say that it was lucky that Peter was home. A bit sad when things like this happen. You who work like little work ants. Good luck:)

How sad, just when you've got things organised. Hope it wasn't too drastic. Love Elisabeth

Bad luck, indeed! But if there's a leak in a boat, it's not easy to localise the leak - it could be dripping from the windows, but the leak could be somewhere else. But if Peter has localised it, that's great. After all, today it has been pouring down rain all day, so perhaps it's not surprising that the leak was noticed.
Sad, it is what it is.

Ugh, how sad! But it's good to be able to see the bright spot in the misery - that someone was home and discovered it in time!

BP, having a caretaker has its advantages! I don't know if we have a lot of patience, but we're used to renovating, and you don't have much choice when something happens...
Ditte, I agree that locating the leak is tricky. "I don't know if we're completely sure, but pretty sure. According to Peter, there are some faults in the window frames that cause water to flow in when it rains as hard as it did yesterday.
Pia, thank you!

No! I feel for those of you who have struggled so hard to get things in order and now this! Hope it's easy to fix. Has the former owner really told about things that were possibly wrong when he sold the house. There is an obligation to do so.

Frankie & Co, thank you! It is sometimes needed!

Annelie, yes it was lucky. Not so much destroyed I think. But of course not good with water in the walls and hull!
No M, a bit difficult to know what the previous owner knew and didn't know... and what was done by him and what was done by the previous owner...
