We have now bought a winter cover for the motorhome. Our motorhome will be outside during the winter and we want to protect it from the weather as much as possible. Of course, it would be even better if the motorhome could be kept indoors, but we can't find a good solution for that this year. We hope that a blanket will help!
Our campervan winter cover
We looked for a while for a winter cover for the motorhome, and it ended up being a simple tarpaulin from Rusta. The one we bought was a bit thicker and stronger, and we had to pay 800 SEK for 7 x 12 metres. Then we had to arrange the cover so that the windscreen is visible, since we have the parking ticket there ...
Now we're hoping that this blanket will help protect against the weather during the cold season. It should at least provide some protection, you might think.
How do you store your motorhome?
You who winterise your motorhome, what do you do? Is it inside or outside? If inside, is it in a warm or cold garage? If outside, do you use any kind of winter cover? Are you able to store your motorhome where you live, or do you have to rent space for winter storage?
Frankie & Co says:
Frank will stand indoors in a rented venue on tarmac with electricity during the worst of the winter a stone's throw outside the city for around £1,200+200.

Deciree, thanks for the comment about condensation, that might be good to think about! There is probably air coming in here and there, but we will check it from time to time!
Frankie & Co, that's perfect! We were also offered to stand indoors as you heard, but at a completely different price...

Mmmm, what were they thinking there.... unreasonable is just the first name for the price you got up there with you.
Ah, Motorhome tent, sounds interesting. We have a large plot, no motorhome garage but maybe in the future and have actually thrown a curious glance when we passed a motorhome tent/carport tent in the 'meantime'. Perhaps Deciree will explain more to us if we ask nicely 🙂.

Deciree says:
It is probably best to protect the motorhome as much as possible. As long as you don't pack in too well so it gets condensation and destroys instead. But you also "air" the motorhome 🙂 it's good. We have a house so it is easier to store the motorhome in our Motorhome Tent, from Nordic Motorhome Tents.

We did as you did before with a large motorhome cover. Now we have a large tent from Dancover.se that we have on the plot and just to drive into, perfect.

If you had dressed the Freedom in red, I would have thought that motorhomes have their own Santa Claus;-))

Oh what a pity about the motorhome ;-] Hope the winter won't be too hard for it!
We have noticed that many people overwinter their motorhome in long-term storage at a campsite located a short distance from an airport in Spain. They then take a bus/taxi/rental car to and from the campsite. We have heard that it is cheaper and safer than long-term parking at the airport car park.

Lars Permeln says:
Our motorhome is parked outdoors on the site. After snowfall I usually brush off the roof to avoid ice formation and freezing. We have a Jula cover that we haven't used yet, haven't put it on because the motorhome is too wet at the moment. Considering putting it on either day if it gets dry enough. Have ready-made cellular plastic blocks to put under the cover to try to create a ridge that makes the snow slide off more easily.

Our tent will be inside. But down in the garage, where also the rusta tarpaulins (the floor of the "outdoor room") live.

Frankie & Co, I think I've seen those campervan tents in pictures... Might have to take a look at Deciree. JoY also writes about a motorhome tent.
JoY, this motorhome tent thing sounds clever. Doesn't work for us who only have one parking space, but in our own garden it seems practical.
Role o Carina, perfect!
Lennart, we have also had ours outside without a blanket, and it worked. But now we thought that maybe we should protect it a little extra ...
BP, will of course look in. Curious about the Israeli food!
Anonymous, slightly better climate for motorhomes in Spain...
Lars Permeln, I actually looked for campervan covers when we were at Jula, but couldn't find any. But I have seen them before, might be a good idea.
Ama de casa, you are so kind to your tent, I'm sure it's fine inside.

Ninni, Henrik and the Hjulius motorhome says:
Yes, not fun to put up for the winter. We have done that a while ago too, as we do not have time and opportunity to go out more in the autumn. But we have a kind of motorhome "pyamas" that are in some kind of material that is said to breathe a little. You thread it over the motorhome, I think we bought it at Jula (??) if I remember correctly for last winter and it has worked well. There is a zip on the side at the door so that you can go in and out "easily" in the motorhome if you want to check the heat and other things.

Ninni, the campervan cover seems good! We looked for it at Jula, but it seems to be out of stock...

Anita says:
Ninni: Can I just ask? You've never had moisture because of the campervan cover? We have a similar cover that you pull over the motorhome, but we got moisture in the ceiling in the bathroom, probably it was too tight and condensation formed. Had the windows and doors closed. Has anyone experienced the same thing?

Mr Martti Luukinen says:
the motorhome is well made to be outside, completely unnecessary to pack it in, possibly just the nose so that ice does not get under the bonnet. The motorhomes are out in the motorhome parks as well.
at least most of them....
