Right now we have a conference with work at Ulfsunda Castle. The castle is located in Bromma and like many other similar old buildings, it is used today for conferences and weddings, and as a hotel and restaurant. The castle was built in the mid-17th century and has had many different owners over the years, ranging from private nobles to the county council. Among other things, Queen Kristina once celebrated midsummer here.
History in the walls
I like these old buildings, like this castle. It's a little bit ticklish with the history in the walls and charming with all the old building details and furniture. Today the old is mixed with newer design, but they have managed to keep the charming feeling.
It's not every day you get to stay in a castle, so you have to make the most of it! The rooms are charming, the staff are friendly, and you can always settle into an armchair in one of the living rooms.
Bonfire and globe
In the evening, a crackling fire is lit and, if you wish, you can order a brandy or a whiskey from the old globe. Tea is always available in a large silver pot and coffee is served with exotic fruit along with cups of pannacotta and small pastries.
The four-course dinner also tasted good, even if it felt a little unnecessarily contrived. I can't really account for all the dishes, but starter number two consisted of fried anchovy balls dipped in cheese sauce poured on a stone.
Rooms with unique design
There are 54 rooms and each has a unique design. I am staying in the 'Patina' room, which got its worn floor from the construction workers being asked to be negligent about it ...

How marvellous! Maybe nice to live on land and so "steady" after yesterday's wind. Hope you can rest a little and be able to switch off between laps. Enjoy!

"Fried anchovy balls with cheese sauce", it sounded complicated - and different! It's exciting to try some different food, because it doesn't sound like something you would come up with on your own...

Ditte, it's a nice and relaxing environment, even though we work a lot.
Marina, it's fun with different food, even if I thought they were a bit "over the top". The first starter was scallops in a small package. The main course was duck with a lot of accessories, such as beetroot puree, Brussels sprouts and black pudding crunch...
Ulla & Torgny, the migraine has stayed in check and the environment is lovely. Thank you for your concern!

Fun to try out different types of accommodation.
Also a way to create patina. Not so common to require negligence from the builders in the building description though. Could negligence cost extra, do you think?
It's amazing that the toilet paper cut still holds up.

Cool! To test such accommodation! By the way, I wonder if floors also become more expensive the more patina they have...like jeans today, the more worn the more expensive...:)

Steve, I'm fascinated by the toilet paper snippet every time I see it... And yes, ordering negligence is interesting!
😉
AktivaDagar, yes, proper wear and tear can cost a lot... although I haven't heard of it in terms of flooring before...
😉
