Italian food is top of the list when readers are asked to choose. Time flies and it's already December! In November we asked which food you like best and Italian food won with 26 per cent of the votes. Not entirely unexpected!
Italian food is popular
Many people voted Italian food as their favourite, which is perhaps not surprising. Many of us have wonderful experiences with Italian food. It can be pasta, pizza or risotto, but perhaps not least delicacies such as olive, olive oil, sun-ripened tomatoes, cheeses, salami and air-dried ham. Sometimes the dining experience may even be enhanced by a nice holiday feeling and a nice view of the Mediterranean Sea.
Other favourites
Other reader voting favourites are Swedish food (15%), Chinese food (11%) and Spanish food (11%). This was followed by Greek food (9%), Thai food (8%), Lebanese food (8%), Japanese food (6%) and French food (3%). In addition, 3% voted for "other". Here you can see the results of the "Which food do you like best?" poll.

A bit surprising, but great to see Italian food becoming popular again!

It's always fun to see what people think about food. And to get the best national food, you have to eat it locally. For example, no Asian food is the best in Sweden and not even Italian food reaches the top outside of Italy. It probably has more to do with the local ingredients. But it's fun to taste your way through your travels.

We can't wait for Italy and the 'Food of the Sun'!
We think the food and ingredients are very nice in Portugal!
I have never eaten such good tomatoes except Swedish ones!

You forgot Indian food! The world's tastiest! But perhaps not so popular at home.

That question is a bit tricky really... it depends on WHERE you eat it. Italian food in Italy is super good (at least what I have eaten) but when I have eaten Italian food here at home, for example, I have not been as impressed. While Greek and Lebanese e.g. is good kind of wherever you eat it 😉.

BP, I think quite a few people seem to be fond of Italian food...
Ditte, it does matter where you eat your food! Asian food is never the same here, and you only get Italian tomatoes and olives that way when you're there....
Lennart, we've never been to Portugal, but I can imagine that there are great ingredients there!
Anna in Qatar, I had a hard time choosing which (maximum ten) countries' food to bring. I definitely considered Indian, but I haven't actually met many Swedes who have it as their favourite food...
Alexandra, I can only agree! There is a huge difference between Chinese food in China and Chinese food in Sweden, for example.

I love Swedish home cooking! I eat (and cook) it regularly. Otherwise, it is probably mostly Asian cuisine that attracts me.
Of course, the Spanish too, but that's every day food, like
🙂
