When travelling, you not only meet exciting people, but also a lot of amazing animals. We've encountered many beautiful and fascinating animals, so it was hard to choose... but here are some that I particularly remember! Do you remember any animals you've seen or encountered while travelling?
Table of contents
1. Giant tortoise in Zanzibar
On Prison Island off the coast of Zanzibar used to house disobedient slaves. Today the island is inhabited by turtles, which came as a gift from the Seychelles in the 19th century.
2. Utter in Thailand
I have become reluctant to attend animal shows because I don't know how the animals are doing, but I want to show this otter from a show on Koh Samui 2006. What wonderful animals!
3. reindeer in Sweden
We were at a campsite in Sälen when we were suddenly visited by this reindeer. He was moving habitually between the caravans and seemed to feel at home.
4. Bats in Malaysia
We went on a trip in the mangrove swamps of Langkawiand then we got to visit this bat cave. Cool to see so many at once!
5. Sea lions in New Zealand
When we travelled by motorhome on the South Island on New Zealand we suddenly spotted these tough guys. Peter and Billie got to pose in front of them without them noticing.
6. Wild boar in Poland
We sat quietly on the Stogi campsite in Gdansk when this cool the wild boarand some of his mates ran past. Fortunately, there was a small fence between them.
7. monkey in Thailand
Animal show again... I've become hesitant about that, but I still think this guy is soooo cool in pictures!
8. Daggertail in Malaysia
Like holding a living fossil! Daggertails are related to scorpions, and the oldest fossils of these are 450 million years old.
9. Horse in Mongolia
Helmets were not exactly the talk of the town Mongolia but the Mongolian, who did not know English, offered Peter a cigarette. He wouldn't let go of my horse ... but a man can ride, can't he?
10. Dolphin in New Zealand
Peter and Robin swam with dolphins in Akaroa off Christchurch on New Zealand's South Island. This is the world's smallest and rarest dolphin, called Hector's dolphin.

Oh! What a variety of animals you have seen. The monkeys in France were probably the most exotic animals we came close to. Down here it is mostly camels (dromedaries) donkeys and horses that represent the wildlife.

So cool pictures! Oh so many animals you have met! The turtle is my absolute favourite! I grew up with two of them, although they were much smaller if you say so.
I've seen a family of moose, a few deer in Sweden, a mix of strange fish and swinging monkeys in Gambia, and the world's strangest and largest insects in Morocco.
Great fun theme!

Awesome! Wouldn't want to visit the cave with bats, they are a bit creepy.

Surely it is cool with all these animals! Then I can agree that animal shows definitely leave a bit of a bad taste in the mouth, as they are supposed to be in the wild (I must admit that one of the animals I haven't seen out of your ten is actually a reindeer).

Maggan and Ingemar, I like the donkeys! Yes, the camels too...
BP, glad you had turtles. But maybe lucky that they were smaller
😉
Alexandra, they sat still and were kind
😉
Marina, Sweden is a bit exotic after all!
🙂
Anki, can probably agree. It was soooo cool!

The cutest animal I ever held in my arms was definitely
the koala bear in Australia; lovely soft fur.
Nicest animal: Tasmanian devil !
