Maybe new tyres for spring? Soon the motorhome season will be here. Many of us will be cleaning and refurbishing our motorhomes so that they are nice and tidy for spring and summer. And sure, we take good care of our vehicles - especially on the inside - but how well do we look after our tyres?
Check the air pressure
As a motorhome owner, we drive around with a whole house, and this places great demands on tyres. Among other things, a tyre must retain its grip when braking and cornering. To do this, it is important that the tyres are not worn too much. Air pressure must also be checked from time to time.
New tyres for increased safety
A motorhome is large and heavy and the contact area with the road surface while driving is very small. In other words, tyres are very demanding! The tyres need to retain grip when braking and cornering, and if the tyres are too worn, these characteristics can be affected.
For these reasons, it is important to buy new tyres when needed. When choosing tyres, don't just look at the price. The most expensive tyre is not necessarily the best, but neither is the cheapest the most affordable.
Correct pattern depth
According to the Swedish Transport Agency, tyres must have a tread depth of at least 1.6 millimetres on summer roads. For winter roads, the minimum is 3 millimetres for passenger cars and 5 millimetres for heavy vehicles such as motorhomes.
Across the board says:
Thought it felt close to taking the car out, but now we have received 2 dm of snow in two days....
Regardless, you're right that tyres are important!
