Just over three years ago, Svensk Bilprovning faced competition from other inspection companies. The competition has not led to lower prices, according to the Caravan Club. However, there is money to be made by choosing the right company for the inspection.
Price comparison between inspection companies
A few weeks ago, DN made a price comparison between inspection companies. It turned out that the price for a car inspection varies between SEK 295 and 475. The leisure magazine Caravan has now called around to six of the major inspection companies and asked what it costs to inspect caravans and motorhomes.
There is money to be made
The survey shows that there is money to be made by finding out the price before booking an inspection appointment. Caravan prices vary between €330 and €450. Motorhomes, registered as class 2 cars, cost €300-395 if they weigh less than 3.5 tonnes and over 3.5 tonnes the price is €530-860.
Lorry-registered mobile homes are always at least €100 more expensive to inspect than if they were registered as a class 2 passenger car. LPG tests usually cost around €150, but are not available in all places ...
BP says:
I think there is very little difference between the inspection of a car and a motorhome. The inspection of the passenger car cost 320 kronor at Opus, which I thought was perfectly ok.
