Lebanese evening - with meze and Lebanese wine

Last night we organised an evening of Lebanese food and wine tasting in the houseboat with Peter's son Robin and his wife Alexandra. It has almost become a tradition to organise such evenings sometimes.

Previous theme dinners

We have previously had an evening with French theme, an evening with Spanish theme and an evening with South American theme. The fun of these evenings is that you learn a little more about the wine and food of a particular area, while eating and drinking well and having a good time.

Lebanese wines

We tasted five Lebanese wines. We tried five Lebanese wines: Chateau Kefraya 2009, Chateau Musar 1993, Chateau Musar 2005, Comte de M 2009 and Chateau Kefraya 2011. Only one of them (Chateau Musar 2005) is available in Systembolaget's regular range. The others had to be ordered a few days in advance. All the wines were good and we perceived them as fruity spicy. One of the favourites was Chateau Kefraya from 2009 (206 SEK).

Meze

We picked up the food from the Libaneza restaurant in Sundbyberg. Their meze is soooo good! Hummus (chickpea mix), Baba ganoush (aubergine mix), Mehammara (chilli mix with walnuts), Labne (yoghurt dip with mint and garlic), Tarator djej (chicken mix with pickles), Shanklish (marinated feta cheese with tomato and garlic), fried cauliflower, meat pies, spinach pies, falafel (chickpea balls), fried halloumi, chicken wings and grilled chicken and lamb. Amazingly delicious!

Own dessert

We made the desserts (three of them!) ourselves. It was a nut mousse with raspberries, chocolate fudge sauce and candied nuts. The recipe comes from Halv åtta hos mig.
