In which cities are you most likely to be affected by natural disasters? The insurance company Swiss Re has found out, according to Dagens Industri. After studying 616 cities, Swiss Re came up with the following top list.
Cities at risk of natural disasters
Of these cities, we have only visited Manila in the Philippines. But we wouldn't hesitate to visit the others either. You never know where accidents will happen, and if you're unlucky, it will probably happen where you least expect it ... or how do you reason? The following cities pose the greatest risk of natural disaster according to Dagens Industri:
- Tokyo, Japan (earthquakes, monsoon rains, floods and tsunamis)
- Manila, Philippines (typhoons and earthquakes)
- Pearl River Delta, China (floods and cyclones)
- Osaka-Kobe, Japan (earthquakes, typhoons and giant waves)
- Jakarta, Indonesia (earthquakes and floods)
- Nagoya, Japan (tsunamis)
- Kolkata, India (floods, tsunamis and hurricanes)
- Shanghai, China (floods)
- Los Angeles, USA (earthquakes)
- Tehran, Iran (earthquakes)

That doesn't sound like a good idea to visit those countries!!!
But you have to be unlucky if it happens just then!
Now the motorhome is the main focus for the future 🙂 .
Take care/Kram

Ditte says:
Yes, risks are "risky" and some of the risk areas on the list have been visited.
If you are anxious by nature, you can avoid these places. But on the other hand, most things involve risks; travelling by car, flying, going out on the street, being at sea....so I'm glad I'm not the more anxious type.
But I like lists, of all kinds...

I don't know how to interpret the fact that I've never visited any of the most dangerous cities, although it's actually unconscious...

I am reasoning like you. I mean think about the tsunami in Thailand many years ago. Who had taken that disaster into account - nobody.

The only city I have visited is Shanghai. It is not in my nature to be afraid. Accidents can happen anywhere! It's important not to be in the wrong place if it happens!

Nice that Taiwan is not on that list! The next long trip will probably go there!

Rolle and Carina, you can't protect yourself from everything... Wishing you a great motorhome spring!
Ditte, I like lists too... although you have to take them with a pinch of salt.
😉
Marina, maybe other cities are more dangerous from other perspectives on the other hand...? Like theft, robbery...?
BP, right? You never know...
The worst thing about life is that you can die... sort of.
😉
FantasyDining, Taiwan sounds exciting!!!

Hi, there! Just found this place. What a fun list, I must say. To list those with the greatest risk... So funny. Yes, I don't think it helps to avoid the ones with the greatest risk either for that matter and do not hesitate to visit them, but have never been exposed to an earthquake *pepper pepper*.
