The number of new motorhomes registered each year has tripled in the last 10 years. Now municipalities are beginning to realise that they need to provide parking spaces for motorhomes if they are not to lose out on tourists.
Too few car parks
The increasing popularity of motorhomes and the lack of parking spaces in the country is something you can read about from time to time. Right now this has been highlighted by Swedish Radio, which reports from Eksjö. A new caravan park is planned there. The municipality has realised that if they cannot offer parking spaces, then "the risk is great that tourists will move on to the next town".
Should be win-win
It is only to be hoped that more municipalities will follow suit. When you visit a city, you usually want to be reasonably central so that you can visit restaurants, shops and attractions. And the municipalities must benefit from this! Have you visited any good caravan parks recently that you can recommend?

Yes, during our trip south in 2012, we ended up at a nice
place near the sea, Sandhamn in the Blekinge archipelago!!!
We enjoyed ourselves there and can't wait to return to that place!
Take care...... Hugs

It's good that some municipalities seem to realise what those of us with motorhomes want... I hope more people realise the same thing.
Västerås, Askersund, Mariestad and Ulricehamn are examples of cities with good sites... all within walking distance of the city centre.

I wish we would get more parking spaces up here in the North as well. Motorhomes have increased in number, so parking spaces are a must for everyone to get a place overnight or for a few days:-)

Rolle and Carina, we have not been there, but always nice with places near the water!
Anki, thanks for the tips! We have been in Mariestad, agree that it is a good place to park!
Deciree, yes, of course we need parking spaces in the north too!
