Tonight we attended a preview of the Australian film Tracks, which has its official Swedish premiere on 13 June. The film is the true story of Robyn Davidson, who in 1977 walked through 2700 kilometres of desert until she reached the Indian Ocean, and is based on the best-selling book "On Camelback through the Desert".

With four camels and a dog

The film follows a very determined young Robyn (Mia Wasikowska) who, despite all warnings, undertakes the extreme trek with four camels and a dog. The film features the vast Australian landscape, but also elements of Aboriginal culture and National Geographic camera flashes.

Robyn Davidson was there

Robyn Davidson was present in the cinema for the preview and after the film there was a Q&A session on stage. It was fascinating to hear Robyn talk about the search for solitude and what wandering does to a person.

Among other things, she talked about the paradox of seeking solitude and at the same time being in the eye of the world, and about the human need both for nature and for belonging to a cultural context. She said that the world today is a bit crazy and that we all somehow "agree to that madness". Anyway, a fascinating film! Even if you don't want to walk through the desert for months on end, you can be inspired to dare to realise your dreams.
