I'm certainly not going to complain. Everyone has their shit, and some people have conditions and worries that are much worse than what I'm dealing with. Migraines are harmless, but completely disabling when they strike. At least that's how it is for me. I end up (at best) in bed with an ice pack on my head. At worst, I wander around like an unholy spirit because the pain is too intense to rest.
Not being able to do things
As well as being useless in pain, it's frustrating not to be able to do things. When I have a migraine, Peter gets to do all and it doesn't feel very good, even though he says it's fine. I have also realised that the migraine affects my personality to some extent.
Always be prepared
Since I don't know when it will strike, I always want to be prepared, preferably having done things in advance. In case I would get a migraine ... As you may have realised, I had a migraine yesterday, and last night. Today I'm feeling much better and this evening has been spent doing the tax return, which I not had done in good time ... By the way, the sewage problem is not solved, and we are still living in the motorhome.
Mr Nils-Åke Hansson says:
There is one thing you do not understand when you do not suffer from Migraine yourself. But may be free from headaches.

BP says:
No one can understand what migraine is unless they have had it. Migraines are downright nasty - I know. I mean fireworks are fun to watch on New Year's Eve, but not in your eyes.
I don't know if you take tablets. But a hot tip from me who also suffers from it (migraine is hereditary, and I have to blame my dad) is:
Buy a German medicine called "Doppelspalt". Always keep the tablets with you. If you take a tablet as soon as you start to see - or at least five minutes later - you'll be fine. Ok, your head will feel a bit cotton-wrapped, but you won't have to deal with ice packs or a dark room.

Ditte says:
I have been lucky so far not to have had a migraine. But I have lived with someone who has had it and realised that it is absolutely miserable. There is nothing that helps, only relieves at best.
And you don't know when the attacks are coming.
I hope that you will now be migraine-free for a while and be able to look up...
It's a shame that you still have the sewage problems, but you have a nice motorhome to live in. I think it likes you being there.
Many thoughts to you both.

Mr Steve says:
Boring. I am blessedly free of migraines so I have no idea what it feels like. However, I have understood from many testimonials that it is paralysing when it strikes.
Hopefully I will be spared in the future so that I can continue to use my ice for the whisky instead of wearing it on my head.
Speaking of the declaration. It used to cause headaches as you sat there with all the receipts and piles of paper. Today, with the help of the internet, it is a piece of cake.

Oh dear - poor thing! We have a daughter who suffers from the condition and she is like you, completely out of sorts when it strikes.

Nils-Åke, be happy about that, because there is really nothing positive about migraines...
BP, of course I have tablets ... but nothing that works so well. And I've really tried most things, I promise. I see a neurologist from time to time and have tried all the modern medicines, including injections and nasal sprays and God knows everything... But I haven't tried the German medicine you mention! THANK YOU for the tip!
🙂
Ditte, thank you, and of course we are comfortable in the campervan!
Steve, it sounds much nicer with the ice in the whiskey than on your head. Unfortunately, the tax return yesterday was not a piece of cake, but more like you described it was in the past... We sold an apartment last year, so there are extra forms and a lot of hassle...
Marina, sorry to hear about your daughter. It's certainly not a fun condition!

Lennart says:
I don't think you understand until you have had a migraine.
A common cold makes you feel sorry for yourself.
At the same time, you can say that it could have been worse, as long as you are alive!

Anki says:
Hope you feel better today... I know exactly what you go through when you suffer... and it's not fun. I suffered a lot from migraines when I was younger, but now it is very rare and I am of course grateful for that...

ABB wife says:
Ugh 🙁 I got a migraine the day before yesterday for the first time in probably a year! In Sweden I get it sometimes but since it's stress related I haven't got it so often here in China. But now ... I thought I had a brain haemorrhage so it hurt. The whole night was awful but finally I managed to fall asleep and felt OK when I woke up. Not fun!!! I haven't tried an ice bag but I have tried a warm wheat pillow, it's also nice!

Lennart, it can always be worse I guess... although when you have a migraine it doesn't feel that way.
😉
Anki, how nice that it has improved over the years! My grandmother said she had no migraines after 90 (she was 99). I don't really know how to take that....
😉
ABB-wife, how sad! But nice that you get it less often now! Can certainly be different under what circumstances you live.
