Would you consider staying in a lighthouse on your own island, or perhaps in a tent on a raft, during your summer holiday? Airbnb, which arranges holiday rentals, has listed some of the site's wide-ranging accommodation around Sweden.
5 different types of holiday accommodation
- Living in an aircraft hangar - At Bunge airfield, south of Fårösund on northern Gotland, you can stay in the middle of an aircraft hangar. Price: 421 SEK. Activities nearby: Fly a propeller plane or glider, go skydiving or rent a bike and discover Gotland.
- Live like a lighthouse keeper on your own island - The desolate island of Agön is located in the Agöarkipelago in Gävleborg. Here you live in a lighthouse and a small house from 1860, in the middle of a nature reserve. Price: from SEK 2000. Activities nearby: Hike, cycle or take a trip to Bollnäs or Hudiksvall.
- Discover Stockholm from a raft - A 21 square metre motorised raft is located on Ingarö in the Stockholm archipelago. The raft takes up to 15 passengers and is equipped with a tent, barbecue, table, chairs, oil lamp and gas stove. You only bring a sleeping bag. Price: from 900 kr. Activities nearby: Discover the Stockholm archipelago, have a party or enjoy the tranquillity.
- Stay in Visby with a view of the ring wall - In a charming house in Visby, you can enjoy the sea view and the view of the ring wall. The house includes a garden and the cats Cola, Susi and Puttis. Price: from SEK 804. Activities nearby: Visit Medieval Week, learn to blow glass or learn to kite surf.
- Experience the metropolitan pulse in a modern Stockholm apartment - Stay in a newly renovated apartment in Södermalm with a ten-minute walk to Nytorget. Price: from SEK 770. Activities nearby: Experience Södermalm, have a picnic in Vitabergsparken or take a boat trip to Djurgården.

Funny and nice tips. Thank you very much! These are now in my holiday notebook in the "Sweden tips" tab. Good to take out when needed.

The picture from the aircraft hangar evoked old army memories for me. Not exactly a holiday feeling.
Rafts in the Stockholm archipelago look much nicer.
But for me, Getingstorp is the place to be.

We have tried AirBnb for the first time this spring and are more than satisfied. Rented a super nice apartment in the centre of Budapest at an incredibly good price. So I can highly recommend AirBnb.
Your suggestions looked lovely, maybe something for next summer.

Fun accommodation!
The most unusual accommodation in Sweden that we've tried is probably that hostel in the jumbo jet at Arlanda Airport. Fun to try, but rather expensive for a hostel...
🙂

Ditte, fun with a little different holiday accommodation. Have not tried Airbnb myself, but can imagine trying it at some point.
Steve, haha, no, maybe it's not the military service you want to relive on holiday....
😉
Catharina, nice to hear about your experience! Then maybe you'll dare to try something through them at some point!
Lennart, yes of course, that's always the case.
😉
BP, I'd like to think so too
😉
Lena & Jan, you can imagine completely different accommodation, and completely different environments, at different times!
Ama de casa, that's definitely odd, I have to agree. I don't know if I've tried any really odd accommodation... but I looked at an interesting one today, which I'll tell you about soon!
