Do you have a generator, and if so, do you use it? We got a Honda generator when we bought our motorhome on Blocket in 2008. I would actually say that we use it very rarely. We often stay at campsites or caravan parks with electricity. If we're free camping, we often try to do without the generator because it makes a lot of noise.
Why do you need electricity?
Heating, refrigeration and cooking can be done with LPG, and we have LED lights so they hardly use any electricity. What we need electricity for is actually computers, mobile phones and if we want to listen to music or watch a film. We have double batteries in the living room, so even this we can manage for a while without electricity, but after a while the electricity runs out ...
Great benefit on a number of occasions
The generator works perfectly well to produce electricity, so the only downside is that it is noisy. It doesn't bother us at all inside the motorhome, but it could potentially disturb others in the neighbourhood, so you don't dare start it just anywhere. Anyway, the generator has come in handy on a number of occasions! Among other things, it came in handy when we went to Oslo for several days of partying in connection with Sensation White, and really wanted to be able to have music in the car.

Before, we used to run an electric generator all the time. But since we installed solar panels, we don't need to use the power station. It's so convenient not to have to. But there are many people who like electric plants too. Fortunately, it exists when you don't have access to anything else:)

So the thing with your electrical system sounds like old A/C that rattled;-)

We have also stopped using electricity since we put on solar panels. We have 2 solar cells on the roof plus a loose one that we place next to the car when needed. In the winter months down on the sunny coast, the sun is so low that it cannot reach the roof. Then it is good to have a loose solar cell that you move according to the sun. Just a tip...............
We have 2 computers, 2 "Toads" and a lot of other things to be charged and it works great.
Good luck with the renovation!

I owned a generator for my last house, which was 450 square metres. So I kept a generator to get extra power in case of a power cut so that the circulation pump could run. Of course, it's good to have a generator if you need to start it. But on the other hand, it sounds a bit too much. Solar energy is otherwise a good option. Good luck with your projects.

Deciree, we also have solar panels, but we haven't found them to be very effective...
BP, haha, it's effective, but sounds a bit...
😉
Ulla & Torgny, interesting to hear that many people experience such a great effect from solar cells, and interesting with the loose solar cell! We have not experienced such a great effect of our solar cells, but maybe there is too little sun up here in the cold North....
😉
Katta, electricity can also be good when you have a house! Pretty good to be able to combine different energy sources.
