Lifting a houseboat is not something you can do in a flash. In fact, it took almost seven hours. The first few hours were spent locating and disconnecting all the pipes. Since the boat is permanently connected to the water and sewage system, it had to be "unplugged". Then, around lunchtime, it was time to...

It's good that things have gone well so far. And it is a big boat, but it is the same way to get up and in our sailboat. Good luck to you! Exciting to follow your work.

Junior girl, please! There will be a lot of work...
Alexandra, we do most of the work ourselves, but there are also blacksmiths and sheet metal workers. And Peter's brother comes for a few days and helps out.
Deciree, we're excited too! And we'll see afterwards how good we were... haha.
BP, it took longer than I thought. But it is good that they are doing it properly. It is not a small boat to lift ...
Ditte, yes, it's probably exactly the same thing, but maybe a little more complicated when it's this big.

Inga M says:
Nice to see the whole lift here in a picture sequence! My spontaneous reaction is surprise that the boat does not tip over when it is in the water, it looks so high when it comes up on land! But I guess boats are built to stay on the right keel. 😉 . Hope it goes well now with renovation. What are you aiming to do now that you have got it up on land? What can you not do when it is in the water?

Another stage happily in harbour. In harbour, sometimes expressions are particularly appropriate.

Nils-Åke, yes, they can lift boats up to 50 tonnes here.
Elisabeth, yes, it feels like a lot has to go right during this whole renovation process!
Lars Permelin, well, it's not that small... It's 18.5 metres long and weighs about 20 tonnes, we think.
Rolle and Carina, yes it will be a lot of work!
Marina, very strange feeling to lift your house, I must say!
No M, we are going to completely demolish the top superstructure and rebuild it completely. It will be slightly larger, insulated and all the windows and doors will be new. In the kitchen area the panelling will be replaced and a new window on the "sea side". It is difficult to do these big heavy jobs when the boat is in the water and hopeless to change windows etc. on the sea side... We will review the hull as well...
Steve, haha a lot of expressions become funny, like "we are in the same boat" and stuff like that...

Frankie & Co, it's time to get to work!
Well, not that deep actually. The red is what is below the waterline.
Katta, yes it felt very different to see it adrift, on wheels!

Patrik says:
It's fun to see when you lift big boats.
Can it not run under its own power but has to be towed? Is there no engine in it?
08 June 2014 - 21:12
admin says:
Patrik, the engine has been removed. It was there once, of course, but today the boat has been completely remodelled into a home. In the old engine room we have a wardrobe and laundry room...
