What everyone is talking about right now: the heat. Anna, who blogs from Qatar, thinks we are exaggerating a bit. In Doha it's about 43 degrees, as usual. But, we inexperienced Swedes are a bit shocked, so we gratefully accept various survival tips.
More tips for surviving the heat
BP, of the blog Art or Strange, offers a number of survival tips. here and here. However, not all the advice seems applicable when you are in construction clothes and working on a boat. So how do you do it? Well, let's just say there's a lot of water and watermelon here... How do you cope with the heat?
Ama de casa says:
AC. Without AC I would probably not be able to sleep at all... But we only run it late in the evening and at night.
Then the camping season has begun. The living room camping, that is. We live out where the AC is

Hi have tried to check what is happening with the comments. Seems like Akismet takes them as spam all of a sudden. Have deactivated it now so feel free to test again and I will know if it works. Thanks for letting me know!

Windows and doors (with insurance approved locks) on the shady side are open (when we are at home) at night as well along with an air fan that distributes the cooler air. Water and liquid fruit / food to a greater extent than usual 🙂 But an AC or two would not have been wrong 🙂.

Ditte says:
If you live in Doha, or any country that is usually warmer than here, you probably have an AC installed. The heat is not common here so cross drafts, water and shade will help. And to look for places by the water where there might be a breeze.
But the nights are difficult for me. I want dark and cool to sleep well. And it is not possible to get that right now. But some fans help well both day and night.
Thinking of you working hard in the heat....
Maybe night shifts if the heat continues.

The AC is worth its weight in gold these days!
It is important to drink a lot, not just beer!

1,000 thanks for the links! I'm glad you share my tips with the rest of the Swedish population:-))))
Then I see the Coke bottle, which almost, but only almost, confirms what I wrote yesterday.
Oh, today the nice weather is over, only 27.9 degrees right now;-)
I have also at most experienced 44 degrees in Turkey and in the USA, which was even a little too hot for me. But when it became 30 degrees in the evenings, it felt like 18 degrees here.

Anna in Qatar says:
Yes you are silly 😉
I think it's extra hard in Sweden when you don't have AC when you sleep. But one tip that works is to drink sports drinks if you are going to be outdoors. I'm out a lot even though I try to avoid the hottest days but if we go to the beach (a little bit numb), you sweat so much that water can't replace all the sweat you get. I do not know what electrolytes are called in Swedish but google how you can mix fluid replacement yourself. Resorb is good too.
And protect your head!

Ama de casa, we don't have ac in the campervan... but in fact it's quite ok at night...
FantasyDining, strange, but it has happened to me on more blogs. I'll check in with you and try commenting again.
Lena, fans do help. We have two in the motorhome, and they are good when it's hot.
Ditte, it is true that we are less prepared in Sweden! It's easiest to work on the boat in the evening, of course. During the day, we try to make sure we're always working on the shadow side.
Lennart, of course you have to drink! We sometimes forget, but we try to fill up on both plain water and other things.
BP, yep, it feels like Sweden needs tips right now!!! Please note that there is water in our cola bottles... it is mostly the bonus son Billie who drinks cola, and then we fill the bottles with water...
😉
Anna in Qatar, yes haha, we are a bit silly. First we whine about wanting heat, and then we think it's really hard when it gets a little hot, haha. But it is true that we are a little less prepared, without ac and so on.
Criss-cross, haha
😉

Melons and water galore. Then the occasional pickled cucumber to keep the salt balance. Keep fighting in the heat! Elisabeth

Inga M says:
Would like an AC but in the absence of it, it has to be a fan. We run it during the day to blow up basement cold air in the floor and at night into the bedroom.

Elisabeth, yes, a little salt is good too!
No M, in the motorhome we don't have AC either... but we do have fans. I think it helps a lot!
