In Business Insider Australia, you can read why Sweden is the most wonderful country in the world. The author, who spent eight days in Sweden, offers a dozen explanations. And as usual, it's fun to see how others perceive our country...
Sweden is great because ...
- Everyone has coffee - at least twice a day
- You can swim in the centre of Stockholm
- There is light for 20 hours a day in summer.
- Swedes dance around the midsummer pole and go crazy
- There are raves in the forest
- There are strange sayings, such as "he shit in the blue cupboard"
- All outdoor terraces have blankets
- State pays for summer ticket advertising on SL
- Each metro station is like an art installation
- Sweden is the third largest exporter of music in the world
- Princess Estelle is cool
- Pippi Longstocking is Swedish
- Reindeer exist
- Almost everyone has a holiday home
- Lingonberries go with everything
- Swedes have been great at carpentry for a long time
- Stockholm is absurdly beautiful
- Vikings!
- The King's old hunting grounds are a nice park to hang out in
- There are enchanted forests
- Swedes paint their machines (like the giraffe crane)
- Night clubs become daytime flea markets
- Everyone goes to the archipelago at the weekend
- Meatballs are real

Interesting! And many of the wonderful things you get blinded by when you have/see it all the time... Good to be reminded... Says me sitting with the second coffee of the day...

Great! Then the writer was only here for eight days. The only thing I must have missed is the flea market at the nightclub;-)

Was home for a week this summer and was struck by how beautiful it is in the summer and how wonderful it is to see people in parks, barbecuing, sunbathing and having a cosy time or sitting on outdoor terraces with a glass of wine. I miss that. It was harder than usual to come back to Dubai after the visit to Sweden!

Always fun to see how others perceive your country!
As a Norwegian, I have to agree with many of these impressions.
And last but not least, bragging about Stockholm. A fantastic city and capital.

ActiveDays, it's good to see with other people's eyes sometimes
😉
BP, yes, he must have had some time...! Judging from the pictures, that nightclub/ramp seems to be somewhere in the South.
Pia, in the summer, especially if the weather is nice, it's extra nice! Go here on a dark and wet day in November, it will be easier to go back to Dubai!
🙂
Ann-Mari, yes it is! Most countries do have beautiful places and interesting things to see, but it's easy to become homebound.

Of course Sweden is fantastic! I think it's easy to become home blind. I know someone who worked in Saudi for a couple of years and every time she came to Sweden in the summer, she was fascinated by the fact that there were so many shades of green. You think most things are obvious if you live here.

Oh, it was a lot in a short time, always fun to read/hear what others think about us 😉.

Oh, that was a really fun thing, I think I'll try it on our American son-wife. Maybe the little Americans, five and eight years old, can have fun answers to what they see and experience in Sweden.

It's nice that in Australia you can at least like Sweden as a country. I also like living in this country, but as a Swede it is now a bit suspect to like Sweden and express it! A pity!

Ama de casa, yes a bit impressive actually!
🙂
Ditte, you can see things a bit differently when you've been abroad for a long time! It's really easy to be blinded by home.
Henny, yes, it can certainly be interesting to ask them! I wonder what they experience/notice here in Sweden. It may be completely different things than you would think ...
Inga M, yes, when that happens it's wrong. I think on the contrary, that when you can be proud of and like your own country, it is easier to feel safe. And when you feel safe, it is easier to welcome others!
