We didn't know much about the history of the houseboat, so when we were recently contacted by a former owner, it was exciting! There's still a lot we don't know, but we've been given another piece of the puzzle ...
A passenger sloop
The houseboat is from the 1930s (or even older), and has apparently been a passenger sloop, i.e. a boat that carried passengers somewhere. Then we don't know much ... until the 1990s. Then it was, as a houseboat, in Navis harbour on Djurgården.
When they no longer wanted houseboats, the female owner moved the boat to Pampas marina in Solna, and sold it. So it's been here since the late 90s, and it's had two different owners before us.
Different colours over the years
The last owner painted the houseboat yellow. Before that it was grey. The last owner also renovated the kitchen, but otherwise the boat seems to have been the same since the time on Djurgården. Until now, that is... Anyway, it would be nice to know more! Does anyone have suggestions on how to "genealogise" a boat's history ...?

How nice that you have learnt more about your home. But how to proceed ... I'll ask around and get back to you. Someone must know.

It's always nice to know the background to things. Don't forget to put your names under any construction details for the future.

If boats have "licence plates" or numbers, it might be an idea to contact the Department of Transport. Shipping. Or research via insurance companies.

Ditte, it was great to learn more! But then you became even more curious.
😉
Katta, maybe we should remember that! When we demolished, a name did appear, but it was one of the later owners.
BP, the boat has a number, but it is too narrow to be a ship, so it is not in the ship register I think. But maybe I should double check. And I haven't thought about insurance companies ...
