According to the rules of the building permit, the new extension on the houseboat must fulfil certain fire protection rules. This is usually achieved by using plaster layers in the walls, but as we don't want to build with plaster, we have turned to another solution: fire protection paint. We are now painting the ceiling and walls of the new living room with this paint.
Complies with the rules
Cheap paint? No, not really... But according to all the information we've received, it's compliant and we don't have to use plaster.

Interesting info that you can replace plaster as fire protection with a certain type of paint. I have never heard of that. I wonder what it contains that can protect against fire?

Lena, it works, but it's not exactly a cheap solution. In addition, we only found the paint at a place that sells to companies. In regular stores we only found small cans for painting on stoves and such.
No M, it works but is quite expensive (about four times as expensive as regular paint) and we only found the can in the shop for companies. I don't know what it contains... I think the fire protection is about delaying the course of the fire a little, so that you have more minutes to get out if a fire starts...

But how clever to use paint instead of heavy plasterboard.

If I remember correctly, we wrote about fire protection paint in one of our trade magazines at some point. What a great alternative to ugly plaster.

Practical and stylish, and I'm sure the fire-resistant paint will work very well and you won't have to use plaster. What a great idea!

It usually costs a lot when you choose a different solution than the one recommended in the first place. I hope the colour keeps its promises.

Frankie & Co, hello, no we don't have plaster on the interior walls, we have plywood (primed in the photo, with white primer). Only just behind the fireplace we have two sheets of plaster....
Lars Permeln, yes, you are right. And yes, we can hope so. But it should do so since it is ok with this kind of colour according to the rules, we hope.
