We didn't only manage to put the roof and hang out at KS Akuten yesterday. We also managed to load up our friends' catamaran on the motorhome roof. They have bought a small holiday apartment in Poland, on the beautiful Polish Baltic Sea coast. Now they have bought a catamaran, a Hobie Cat, which they want to transport down to Poland. So we decided to load it on the camper van roof and go down to Poland together in September.
How do you get a catamaran onto the roof?
So how do you get a catamaran onto the roof of a motorhome? Well, it's not as heavy as it looks, weighing only 140kg, including the mast. But it's quite big and the campervan is quite high... But with a little ingenuity, most things are possible! We built a staircase out of pallets and helped each other lift it. So now our motorhome looks like it's ready for adventure, don't you think?

The road users you meet may lose concentration for a moment, but I have stopped being surprised. After all, your whole life is an exciting adventure.

Sounds like a cool adventure! Fun with things that come a little "suddenly and unexpectedly"... 🙂 Well, if it's fun things, not things like bottles in the head and stuff like that... Hope your head is fine... 🙂 🙂

Don't forget that you are higher than before when driving under any bridges or tunnels. 🙂
We might go to Poland in the autumn as well.
Drive carefully!

What ingenuity to get the catamaran in place. But of course it was going to happen. Well done! Hope you also take some sailing trips with the nice "cat" in Poland. I have never sailed in such a small "cat" but can imagine the speed it gets. Great fun! And it doesn't tip over either!
Exciting adventures await you this autumn. Well, apart from getting your home in the lake of course.

Cool! On the Pampas there seems to be most things including pallets. Glad you are going over with your friends. If you take Polferries over just check the "ceiling height" of the ferry 😉.

Haha that carriage will certainly attract attention on the roads. Well done for picking it up.
Oh I feel sorry for your head, now hope it heals quickly.

Steve, haha, we have also stopped being surprised...

ActiveDays, sudden and unexpected is fun... if it's positive!
😉
Maggan and Ingemar, absolutely true! We have to think about that. Glad you also have plans for Poland!
BP, we go with Polferries and I have already called and checked... the height is ok!
Elisabeth, we are not going to drive that far, and we will drive carefully!

Lasse Permelin says:
It will probably arouse interest and wonder how you got it up on the roof. Guess it will take a little extra thought when you take it down in Poland.

Ama de casa says:
How cool was that! A motorhome with a catamaran on the roof...
Just remember to check how high it is with its extra load...
🙂

Lasse, haha, we haven't really solved how to get it down... yet. We joked that we have to back it down to the water and tilt it enough... But it will be solved somehow!
Ama de casa, yes it is quite high now... best to watch out for tunnels!!!
