As you may recall, we had planned for a sheet metal company to put the roof on the houseboat. But that didn't happen ... The company, which also supplied the scaffolding and welded the railing, suddenly pulled out.
You could say that it suited them very well, because we suddenly paid more than they did. So it doesn't help to be in the business, you can still get cheated ...
Cardboard roofs instead of tin roofs
The plan was to lay a tin roof, but when we had to lay it ourselves, Peter changed to cardboard, which you buy on a roll. He added sheet metal to the edges, which was very tricky because there isn't a single straight line on the boat. But now it's done!

It's hard to believe that so much has to be difficult for you. Very sad! I hope you can get some money back from the company....but that's probably thinking too positively.
How nice it turned out with the new roof and chimney. I especially like the slanted window. Annorlinda and some fun and it fits in so well.
Positive thoughts for you diligent ones....

Mr Steve says:
The construction industry is unfortunately populated by too many unscrupulous characters. The best thing is that you solve everything on your own. It's a good feeling to be able to do that, even if it means problems at the time.
We had similar problems when we built our new pool last year. However, we had the advantage of being able to dispute an outstanding invoice. After that, we didn't see the man again. It's for the best.
The pool was then perfect and has been used extensively this summer. Hope for the same result for you. That is, perfect houseboat and frequent use.

Looks very nice... One can only admire your patience, but you will probably be rewarded soon when it is finished. Then you'll know what and how the renovation is done.
Kudos to you ...
Today's rice for the sheet metal company...

Wow! How nice it turned out! Unfortunate, however, with the company that pulled out! Hope you sue them! There are too many rogue actors in the construction industry, unfortunately!

I'm sure it turned out functional and beautiful after all, it's good to be crafty yourself 😉.

I think Cardboard is a good choice not so much noise in case of rain.

Such craftsmen should not be dealt with, away with them. My brother, in Småland, has also hired people to re-roof his house, now keep your fingers crossed that they do not suffer the same thing as you did.
It is really good and the picture in the previous post on Freedom is great. Soon you will be back in the water.
How are the ailments, hope all is well?
Hugs

Veiken says:
It's crazy how many unscrupulous people there are. Don't you have any chance of getting back the money you are entitled to?
It will be good anyway, but it's really hard to be cheated in that way. 🙁

Ditte, I'm glad you like it! We won't get any money back...
Steve, glad the pool turned out well! Yes, although there are of course many good builders, there are also many who do not hesitate to do either...
Aila, yes, one of the advantages of doing everything yourself is that you know every centimetre... and how everything is done.
BP, yes, unfortunately some rogue...
Lena, yes, this building would have been totally impossible if we didn't know how to craft it ourselves!
Nils-Åke, you may be right! It's supposed to last 20 years too, and that feels quite long.
JoY, hope your brother has better luck with the craftsmen. Thanks for asking. The head wound should heal quickly and I will remove the stitches on Tuesday. My leg is still in pain, if it doesn't go away, I'll have to check with the health service again to see if there's anything I can do...
Katta, yes it will be exciting!
Well, we're not going to get any money back unfortunately...
