Getting a PET bottle in the head doesn't sound so bad. But when it is full of water, comes from the roof of our houseboat and lands in my head with the cork first, it is a different matter, apparently. Peter and his brother Dennis were laying the roof, and Dennis got the water bottle with his foot at the same time as I happened to walk past. exactly where the water bottle fell ...
Emergency room visits
It became very bloody, and when the blood wouldn't stop pumping out, we went to the Emergency Department at KS, because other time within a week. The advantage of coming in with blood pumping from your head is that you get to walk past it. all. No waiting here not!
I had to shave off some hair, sew six stitches and then get a really nice (well, not really) little hat that I will apparently wear on my head for three days. Peter dug out a cap in the construction truck that I sat on the back of to hide some of the misery ...

Whoa, whoa! Feel better! You look really tough in any case.

Veiken says:
My goodness what precision and bad luck. Six stitches indicate that it was a pretty good wound! Take it easy in the future! Get well soon!

It's great that they went so well anyway!
By the way, the houseboat looks very nice. I like renovation and interiors too (in addition to travelling), so it's fun to follow you on that front too. By the way, every summer I usually visit the Pampas marina once or twice, but it hasn't happened this year. Otherwise, of course, I would have come by.

So with all this bad luck you have...have you tried to buy a lottery ticket? Luck has to come from somewhere!
Poor you 🙁

Ditte says:
Illa! Such bad luck! But luck of the draw, it could possibly have been worse....Possibly!
Surely EVERYTHING must turn round now. I hope you're not in too much pain.
And the cap spruced up the little white hat.
Many get well soon thoughts.

No, but poor you. It was really unlucky. I think Peter's brother feels bad too...that he did this in the bad luck... Get well soon.

Rkuth in Virginia says:
Guess that's one of the reasons that
construction workers always wear hard hats.
As you say - it was indeed precision!!!
At least you didn't get a hole in your head, thankfully!
Could have been worse.

BP says:
Poor, poor you. An accident but oh so terrible anyway. There's really nothing wrong with the precision, but as Ruth says - a construction helmet might not be a bad idea in the future - not only for you, the victim today, but also for Peter and his son. Must actually give you a hug here ...
PS. Good thing you have short hair. It would look much worse with a shaved patch if you had long hair. DS,

Johanna in Skåne says:
Ugh! It can bleed quite heavily from head wounds. Luckily you are close to a hospital. Last spring I was on Kauai (Hawaii) and in a very remote place (no mobile coverage and about 1.5 hours walk from the helicopter landing pad) a girl fell head down a few metres from me and my travel companion). We and her boyfriend helped her out of the water she was wading in and another 2 people came by. One was probably a doctor, he checked the wound and applied pressure with what was available (after asking about blood contamination). Since the wound was just over 5cm, he said that they needed to seek medical attention as soon as they came down from the hike. She managed to walk back (unclear whether it was 1.5 or 3 hours, where the car park was located, after which my friend soon after sprained his foot and stumbled down to our car (about 4 hours). Ugh what accidents happen quickly.... Hope you heal soon!

THANK YOU for all the kind and encouraging comments!
Anita, haha, it was lucky anyway! The cap works well on the construction site. It will be worse at the regular job on Monday... let's see if I have to wear this little hat still then....
😉
Ladies Abroad, glad you are following our construction! If you have the roads past sometime, it would be nice to see you again!
🙂
Ditte, no, not particularly painful... But it was a bit dizzying yesterday and was suddenly interrupted in the work... Now I just have to manage to shower without getting water in the wound, and then I have to wear this ugly hat... haha.
Ruth in Virginia, yes, a helmet would have been nice... And above all, it was lucky that they didn't drop something harder... you're surprised that a plastic water bottle can do so much damage....
BP, I thought the same thing about my hair! My short hair grows out pretty fast...
Johanna in Skåne, we talked about it yesterday! We live 5 minutes from KS Akuten by car, everything becomes very easy then! Or really no matter where you are as long as you are in a populated area and have close access to some kind of healthcare. In the situation you are talking about, it will be a completely different thing...!

Ama de casa, haha, yes, it was the timing...

Henny, the bladder doesn't seem to have been much fun either... and this will also heal...
Marie, the scary thing was to realise that such a relatively soft and lightweight item hits so hard.... You really understand why it's important to keep track of tools and other heavy items...

But my God I don't know whether to laugh or cry, how is it even possible to have such bad luck?!

You didn't need that right now with so much to stand on! But maybe we can say that it was lucky that it wasn't a heavier and harder object.
