When you enter the houseboat, you enter the kitchen almost immediately. Then there are stairs down to the bedroom, and stairs up to the living room. Both staircases were previously very narrow, and the ceilings were low. In other words, you had to try to fold yourself double and pull your stomach in - at the same time. Not super practical!
Own design
The staircase to the living room is now wider and Peter has built a new wide staircase (to be painted). Going down was not as easy ... There was no room to widen. But we have raised the ceiling, so that at least you don't have to bend over while pulling in your stomach. The design was a bit unique, but I still like it, I must say!

I think you always come up with such great solutions that are also really nice.
I wonder if my 1.95 metre tall husband won't double-dip;-)

Nice to see your stairs. We are also building a new staircase down to the wine cellar, the previous one was too steep and narrow. You will have a great time!

Pia, thank you so much! And funny that you like how we got it in the houseboat!
BP, old houseboats are not exactly built for tall people... but it's much better now than before!!!!
Katta, fun with your wine cellar project! Extra fun to follow other construction projects when you are doing it yourself!

Ha ha ha "fold double and pull in the stomach - at the same time" it sounds like your training, TapOuten type - jokes aside, nice to get a more free and safe staircase! Well done!
