Lifting a catamaran - from a campervan roof

Then it was time to lift the catamaran down from the roof of the motorhome ... After various discussions back and forth, we decided to ask if we could get help in a high boathouse, where there was a winch. No problem!

On the ground in Poland

Now we are in Poland. We took the ferry here, Gdansk-Nynäshamn and then rolled to Mechelinki where our friends Lennart and Beata have bought a summer house. We came here to enjoy the coast and see our friends' house, but at the same time we promised to sail with their new catamaran.

How did we do it? Well, we simply put it on the roof of the motorhome! And we together, they jacked up the catamaran back home in Sweden, but how would we then get it down? We didn't know, but we thought it would probably work out somehow ...

Help to lift the catamaran

In Mechelinki we found a boathouse where some old men were working. We asked, with the help of Beata who speaks Polish, and sure enough we would get help! We backed Freedom in and several guys helped to attach the hook to the catamaran and ensure that it was lifted up smoothly, while the motorhome rolled away. Then it was just to put it on wheels and roll it down to the water. It went really smoothly!

Payment? They said it didn't cost anything, but of course we could share a bottle of whiskey! Now the catamaran is down from the roof and we can continue our adventures in Mechelinki and Poland.
