Mechelinki has been a sleepy little fishing village on the Polish Baltic coast. Not far away are holiday resorts like Rewa, Hel and Sopot, but almost no tourists have found their way to Mechelinki... yet. But that may be about to change. With the help of EU funding, the village has been able to build a pier on the water, and restaurants and hotels are starting to spring up.

Mechelinki in Poland
We found Mechelinki largely because our friends have a holiday apartment here, and we have become very fond of this place.
Mechelinki is located in northern Poland, about 14 kilometres north of Gdynia.
Charming in Mechelinki
Still, it's just as charming as you'd hope: you can walk along the beach without crowding, and every day you can buy fresh fish as the fishing boats come in with the day's catch.
Beach for swimming and sailing
Mechelinki has a nice and quiet little sandy beach, where you can sunbathe and swim. We have mostly used the beach when the boys, Peter and Lennart, play with their catamaran.
Several times it went well, but once it went worse. They gained a lot of speed when they cruised out, but the second time they struck, the mast fell into the sea. They couldn't get anywhere and had to wait for help and a tow from a jet ski.
Restaurants in Mechelinki
Several restaurants have opened along the small strip of beach. Most of them are simple, and you can come here for soup or breaded halibut with chips, red cabbage and grated carrots. Or just to have a beer.
If you walk a little way up from the beach, you can also get to the Osada Wedrowca restaurant at Szkolna 23, which we visited a few times. The tables are set with lace tablecloths and there are ornaments and paintings everywhere.
It feels a bit like coming home to someone's grandmother. Once you've finished eating, you can also move to the armchairs next to the cages of nymph parakeets. A really cosy place to eat traditional Polish food.
Nice areas
Mechelinki also offers beautiful nature, especially along the coast. For example, you can walk towards Rewa, through nature reserves full of birds. You can also choose to walk along the coast in the other direction, towards the larger city of Gdynia.
Where can you stay or park your motorhome?
As far as we know, there is no camping in Mechelinki, but you can start from the Noclegi "Kotwica" campsite, which is located in the centre of Rewa. There are hotels, such as Klif Resort, and also room hire.
More to see and do in the neighbourhood
From Mechelinki, it's a short walk to the lovely little holiday resort. Rewa. It is also not far from the fantastic The entire peninsula, which extends into the sea with beaches on both sides. In addition, you have the wooden town centre nearby, with Gdynia, Sopot and Gdansk. You can find even more tips for Poland by clicking on the image below.

Nice with places that feel and still are genuine. Lovely pictures that speak for themselves. But I guess the weather is about the same as here so if you want more heat in the winter, it is further south you have to go. But I am now really tempted to another visit to Poland but no ferry from Nynäshamn. There are shorter sea routes.

Ditte, this place feels really genuine and cosy! And yes, the weather is about the same as in Sweden. Maybe a few degrees warmer often, but not like the Mediterranean ...
