Yesterday we received both an international driving licence and an international camping card in our letterbox. We have ordered both from Caravan Club. The delivery time is about 2 weeks, but if you are in a hurry, just call and they will fix the process faster. The staff at the office have been incredibly helpful and accommodating, I must say! Here is some more info about the driving licence and the camping card, for those who want to know...
International driving licence
An international driving licence is not required in the Nordic countries and the EU, but is required in most countries outside the EU and is recommended for Morocco, for example. The licence can be ordered from the Caravan Club or Motormännen and costs SEK 125 for members and SEK 250 for non-members. You send in a photo and copy of your driving licence and simply receive a small booklet with the licence translated into several different languages.
International camping card
The International Camping Card facilitates check-in at campsites in Europe and can be presented instead of a passport. The camping card can now only be ordered by members of the Caravan Club. If the card is ordered before 15 May, it is included in the membership fee; if it is ordered later, it costs SEK 150.

I would also take these two documents with me on a long journey like the one you are about to undertake. Don't forget that card for illness abroad that the Social Insurance Agency provides.

The idea of an international driving licence was new to me. You have your own car with you, but if you rent a car in the USA, Turkey and Morocco, it was enough to show our Swedish driving licences. In Dubai, however, we had to "buy" a local card.

I almost thought there was no need for an international driving licence these days. In the countries around here you don't need them at all. In Singapore you can drive on a Swedish licence for a year, then you have to convert it to a Singaporean one by taking a theory test.

It feels good to know that you are professional travellers, not leaving so much security to chance. Then of course the journey itself is an adventure. I look forward to following you on the blog, hope it will work.

Agneta, glad you're joining us - you'll fit in!
🙂
Lars, thanks for the reminder! The European Health Insurance Card is packed!
Rolle and Carina, now it's really getting close!
Lena in Wales, thank you so much for the invitation! We have no current plans to travel in that direction, but you never know!
BP, probably the regular driving licence will be enough, it's a little extra precaution. Only cost 125 kr, so we thought it might be worth it. In Morocco it is not a requirement, but a recommendation.
Marina, the information I wrote above is from the Motormännens website, but maybe it is as you write? For our part, it may not be necessary, but it was easy to order so we keep ourselves safe!
Anki, well now it's not far away!
No M, we are trying to prepare as best we can... Of course we will blog so you and everyone else can follow us!
🙂
