Yesterday we had a white wine tasting and dinner with Peter's sons Robin and Billie, and Robin's wife Alexandra, here in the houseboat. We tried six different white wines, some that I received at my dissertation and some that we bought ourselves. The dinner had a seafood theme, of course, to suit.
Tonight's menu
Tonight's menu was a really luxurious menu, with a seafood theme. In total, there were five smaller dishes:
First starter: Small crusts with avocado cream, prawns, grated horseradish and a small sprig of dill.
Second starter: Creamy crayfish soup made with crayfish cheese, served with garlic bread.
First main course: Marinated and fried tuna, served with apple guacamole.
Second main course: Parmalinded halibut with rice and citrus aioli.
Dessert: Lemon mousse with raspberries and grapes.
White wine tasting
We tried a total of six different white wines. We particularly liked the French "Chablis Vieilles Vignes" and also Stoneleigh, which is a favourite from New Zealand.
A pleasant evening
It really was a very nice evening. After dinner, we moved to the living room, lit a cosy fire and talked for several hours.

It doesn't get much tastier and nicer than that 🙂 .

Ouch, the stingy water started to flow... such lovely starters!
And you wouldn't say no to the wine either, and preferably not spit it out either 🙂.

WOW! Did you cook the food yourself? If so, you should apply for a job at Café Opera. I assume that all the wine was used after the wine tasting. Too bad to throw it away;-)

How lucky that I just came home from a tapas tour - it sounded so good, but I didn't have to go to the fridge on the spot.
🙂
How can you tell the difference between the glasses? Which wine is which, that is. They all look pretty much the same...
😉

Znogge, no way!?
🙂
Carita, no, you don't want to spit out...!
🙂
BP, of course we have cooked the food - not so complicated things really, but everything was very good! And the fact is that a lot of wine can go down on five people when you start at 6 pm and then sit and talk and listen to music until 3 am...
😉
Rolle and Carina, it was very nice to meet for a nice dinner like this before we leave!
Yvonne, yes, that's exactly what we thought when we planned this evening!
Ama de casa, we put the wine glasses in a certain order. Sometimes we have done this so one person knows which wine is which. This time we put little coloured sticky dots under the feet of the glasses, and the same sticky dots under the bottles. Then we moved the glasses around so that nobody knew which wine was in which glass... Then we usually write down information about the wines: grape, where it comes from, what it tastes like according to Systembolaget, etc... and then we guess and discuss!
🙂

Lovely and tempting with all the good food and wine. Nice to do something like that together before you travel. Guess the party lasted all evening.

Wow, so much good stuff! So nice! Gets almost hungry even though we have been away and eaten our fill.
Wine tasting and blind tasting are fun. Sometimes the wine you didn't expect can win the guests' favour... It's not all about price.
We experienced this in China when we had a wine tasting and mixed Chinese wines with those from France, Italy and the New World. Interesting results! To put it mildly!
