Picos de Europa is a multi-mountain national park in northern Spain, located just off the coast between Santander and Gijón. The road in from the coast heads uphill, passing charming villages, small hotels and restaurants and pastures with cows, horses, sheep and goats. The mountains rise dizzyingly high into the sky and this must be a great place to wander on a hot summer's day.
Picos de Europa in the middle of winter
In the middle of winter, and with gas running out, going to a campsite with 6 amps of electricity in the poles might not be the best idea - that is, cold! We only stayed one night and just froze all night. Since the LPG was almost gone, we didn't dare to use it for heating, and 6 amps of electricity is not enough. We tried to use the electricity for heating, but it didn't help much. In other words, it was a cold Christmas!
A paradise for walkers
The Picos de Europa are the finest of the mountain ranges in Austria. There are high green-clad mountains and clear lakes. We're here in winter, but maybe you should come at a different time of year to see all the beauty at its best!
Camping Picos de Europa
The campsite we stayed at is called Camping picos de Europa and is located in the mountains. The nature here is beautiful, but we found the campsite rather boring. Maybe it's better in another season? Right now it's cold and damp, and we were pretty much alone at the campsite.
Now we have rolled down to a campsite just outside Gijón. The air is much warmer here and there should be 10 ampere electricity in the poles. Tomorrow we start the hunt for an adapter to connect a Spanish LPG bottle to the LPG system of our motorhome ...
