ACSI CampingCard - it finally arrived! When we left Sweden with the motorhome at the end of November, it was too early to order the ACSI camping card for 2015. So we ordered the camping card when we arrived at the campsite in Albufeira, Portugal. And then we waited and waited ...
This morning we had almost decided to give up. But who came waving a letter this afternoon? Well, the man at the reception desk!
What is the ACSI Campingcard?
So what is the ACSI campingcard? Well, it's a card that gives you a discount in the low season at all ACSI-affiliated campsites in Europe at one of the prices listed on the front of the catalogues (this year €12-18 per night).
When is the low season? Yes, this is determined by each campsite individually and is stated for each campsite in the catalogue, but generally speaking, it is low season for most of the year except for most of July, all of August and perhaps the first few weeks of September.
You can order the card from ACSI webshop for €15 + shipping (this year, 2015), and the card may also be available in some campsites and camping shops. All affiliated campsites are listed in the two catalogues provided with the card.
Our experience
We have found the discount to be good so far, so we don't want to be without the camping card. If you're spending a lot of nights at a campsite, the cost of the purchase pays for itself very quickly, especially when you're travelling a lot in the low season like us.
In December 2014, when we travelled down through Spain and Portugal with the card, we paid €16/night at the campsites we visited. Without the card it would have been about 21 euro/night. During the mid-season and at more popular campsites, the difference can be even greater. Now that we have the card in our hands, we can soon roll on to new adventures!

At last! Congratulations! They say that those who wait for something good never wait too long.
5 Euro/day is quite a lot for 2/3 months. You can have more fun with that money, can't you!

Well, if you're going to be out for a whole year like you, that's a lot of money! Are you moving on now?

Ditte says:
I'm glad it came and there will be some discount.
Can think that it still feels like a high sum to pay over 1000 sek/week (depending on the exchange rate) for a place. Which in turn means that you can rent an apartment for a month for less money. But then you do not have the flexibility you have. The total cost of a motorhome on a campsite is high. On the other hand, money is not everything, but the experiences and freedom can never be counted in money.
But it was just a thought... That it was expensive...
Take care and enjoy life!

We are also waiting for our Acsi, although sometimes you get "cheated" the campsite does not use Acsi's discount but is only "approved" by Acsi! Speaking of your previous post about visitors. We are many who long for Sweden during the winter :-), I myself read about ten winter blogs every day 🙂 .
Have a good time!

BP, yes you earn the card quite quickly!
Åsa, we will probably leave on Sunday. Today we are going to fix something that broke in the wardrobe.
Ditte, camping can be quite expensive. In high season it can be much more expensive than what I wrote here. But if you rent a site per month or season, you can get better prices. Because it's expensive, we often stay on pitches, like now. Here we pay 7 euros/day. But what kind of cheap flats are there and what time of the year? We have heard that apartments are rented out for 6500 SEK/week here in the summer....
Henny, thank you! Soon we will roll on!
Steve, haha, us too!
🙂
Rolle and Carina, thank you, soon time to roll on!
Birgitta, interesting what you write about ACSI! I understand that many people are longing for winter! We have also always followed winter bloggers.

Good thing it came before you gave up
🙂
I find it much more expensive than that to camp here in Spain, and especially in Italy. Some times it has been cheaper to stay in a hotel...

Ama de casa, yes it can be much more expensive! The prices we wrote here refer to northern Spain and northern Portugal - in the low season. We have camped in Italy in July, and with four people in the car it could cost 400-600 SEK for a night... But that's why we will be staying a lot on pitches, which are much cheaper. And one difference from hotels is that we can cook all the food ourselves...

Exciting, let's see where you end up next! It would be nice to get away from the snow in northern Europe.

We also usually order and carry the ACSI card on our trips every year. It gets a little cheaper in the low season. Good that the card arrived at last.

Roquetas de Mar (Almeria) 'our winter camp' should then be included, as they are now approved ACSI members 😉.
