Today we strolled around the old town of Albufeira. The city is full of white houses, restaurants and shops with clothes, jewellery and beach stuff. It's a bit touristy, of course, but the city doesn't lose its charm. On the contrary, we like this place!
Lunch in the Old Town of Albufeira
Old town in Albufeira is located on a small mountain right next to the beach. We strolled around the neighbourhood for a while and looked in shops for clothes and jewellery, but we didn't buy anything this time. Instead, we treated ourselves to a salad lunch and two beers at a restaurant by the sea. We usually make a simple lunch in the motorhome but sometimes you have to treat yourself a little extra, right?
The beach in Albufeira
The old town is right by the beach, which is a long and beautiful sandy beach. Right now the beach is quite empty, and that's because it's the middle of winter. The reason you see someone sunbathing is because you can actually sunbathe for an hour or so in the afternoon when the sun is high. When it becomes late afternoon and approaches evening, it becomes cool again. In the summer, on the other hand, it's really hot here, and the beach can be crowded!
While the beach in Albufeira is nice, we prefer the beach in Albufeira. the beach in Galé, which is just outside Albufeira. There the beach is a bit more hilly with small cosy bays, which we like. There are many nice places to choose from and if you only come down to the Algarve coast, you will probably not be disappointed when you go home.

Cosy!
Unfortunately, down by our seafront, the sound of the waves is quite often drowned out by people who sing and play rather than good music, and then want to be paid for coming and disturbing us....
