When you are travelling for a whole year, there is a lot of everyday life too. Today we have paid bills and washed clothes. On other days, we go shopping or take care of the motorhome. There is always something to do!
Washing clothes
There is a washing machine (€4.50 per wash) and tumble dryer (€3 per tumble) available to borrow here at the Centre. the car park in Albufeira. We've been here for a while now, and we're still here because we're still waiting for the ACSI camping card, which we've ordered... Good thing there's service in the form of washing machines!
Always something to do
It's raining and cold, so we spend a lot of time in the car. Many times there is something practical that needs to be done. In between, Peter reads and I write (I have a writing project in the works). In the evening we play Trivial Pursuit on Playstation or watch a film. And then, of course, there's shopping, cooking and eating!
So, how does it feel to be travelling for this long? Strangely enough, it feels completely normallylike this is how it should be. But every now and then we have to pinch ourselves and think, "Wow, we're actually on this journey for real!"
BP says:
Of course, I immediately get stuck on your writing project. What should you write about? Maybe about travelling.
Oh, now I know why it's called a campervan too - after all, the household chores are pretty much the same wherever you are....

Lennart says:
Many people ask us what do you do when travelling?
What a journey, this is a way of life!
Motorhome most of the year and half the year abroad!
We live as usual, shop, wash and eat!
Live well!

It sounds nice to have some everyday life and exciting with the writing project - travel related?

BP, there's no escaping the household chores... The writing project is a novel... no promises of a finished result though...
Lennart, yes, it is a way of life! For us, of course, for a limited period of time (one year) but still... You do normal things, of course...
Marie, no not really travel related... The plan is a novel, but I don't know if it will be anything...

Ditte says:
I can imagine that life is almost as usual, and nothing really takes care of itself in a motorhome either.
Sad with rain and wind, but after rain comes sunshine. Because sitting outside in the evenings is cosy, but on the other hand you can sit inside and look out too; waiting for better weather. And it's good to have all the time in the world...

It's great that you use the time (not spent on everyday chores) to make the most of it!

Mr Steve says:
Yes, that's right, you experience a daily life too. Your life is not just about sightseeing, swimming and going to restaurants.
It's still a pretty nice day because you don't have to set an alarm to get to work on time.
That writing project sounds exciting.
Hope your camping card arrives soon so you can continue travelling.
Goodbye!

Of course, there has to be some everyday life when you are travelling for so long. But I guess you fall into some kind of "travel slump"!

Ditte, it has to rain sometimes too...
Steve, luxury is above all being free! We've only had three restaurant visits in almost two months...
😉
Znogge, that's right! Very slow pace compared to what we are used to...

Like the others, I am curious about your project, I hope there will be a final result that we can see 😀.

Ama de casa says:
I paid 100 times more for my laundry today. But on the other hand, I got a brand new washing machine with a built-in tumble dryer.
Unfortunately, I don't have anything to wash right now...
🙂
Of course, it becomes everyday life even when you are travelling for a long time. You can't escape the laundry, but I'm overjoyed when there's a washing machine, hand washing is no fun...

Interesting about everyday life on the move! And the writing project! I'm bubbling with a lot of things I'd like to write but work, work... takes too much time... time to try to reduce it even more...!?!!?

Yes, there is an everyday life even when you are not at home, but still at home. What is home?!?!? For me, I hardly know!
Yesterday it was rainy and windy here too, but today it is sunny, but not so hot.

Camilla, trying creative writing... don't know if it will end up in anything...
😉
Ama de casa, if I'm going to pay 100 times more, I'd like to get the washing machine as well. but I don't know where? Maybe on the roof...?
😉
Ulla Widing, yes, there are not many knots made...
😉
Camilla, I understand what you mean! That's how I've felt all along too! One of the reasons why I wanted to get away this year ...
😉
Lena in Wales, for us it's at home in the motorhome... and it can be in different geographical locations...
😉

JoY says:
Of course, the usual chores also occur in the motorhome from time to time, even if the space is smaller, there is cleaning to be done, clothes to be washed and bills to be paid. And so far, you're only at the beginning of a long 'campervan year'.
Hugs from us who have white white white white on the ground here at home.

It's good to have car parks where there is a washing machine, so you can get rid of it in one go. I'm excited about your writing project!

JoY, thank you for the greeting and hope you enjoy the snow!
Elisbeth, practical with a washing machine! Otherwise, we are mostly used to it on camping ...
