We have now moved to the Valdevaqueros campsite on the coast, one kilometre north of Tarifa in southern Spain. Here we are perfectly fine, even though the weather is really boring. But of course it can't always be sunny, even in Spain.
Nice camping - bad weather
It normally costs €32/day to stay at Camping Valdevaqueros, but with the ACSI discount card the price is €16/day. Now you might realise that the card was worth the wait!
Campsites is located on the beach and is nice and well-kept, with tall palm trees and intense greenery. Unfortunately, it is currently raining almost continuously and the ground is muddy ... you can certainly enjoy sun and swimming here on a nice summer day, but right now it is difficult to feel as optimistic.

We had fun doing laundry today, but unfortunately we can't give the washing machines a good rating. The clothes were only slightly cleaner after washing than before. You have to be happy for the little things, so to speak ...
We have also used the campsite WiFi. It works ok, but unfortunately only at the reception, so we have to get our computers and sit there. At least it works well enough to get a post out, and we are happy about that!

Beach at Camping Valdevaqueros
When you leave the campsite, you only have to cross the road to reach the beach. Right now it's cold and rainy, so the beach is naturally deserted. On a hot summer's day, it's sure to be crowded!

Oh yes, we remember it being here! We promise you will see Peter in the water, but it won't be here. It's so cold and rainy that you don't feel like it... you have to wear a jacket...

Maggan and Ingemar says:
The issue of washing machines and how clean they are is a recurring problem in other countries too. Many times they have a top-loading machine with a wing at the bottom and then I feel that the laundry does not get clean. The best is when they have a front-loading machine. Here we have had great weather today with sun and not so windy. Hope the weather gets better at your place too.

solveig rhann says:
Same,same...we have run two washes, 60°. Only took six hours in total with lousy machines before everything was dry...We had intended to go to a spa, just got an email that it was packed. The weather turns tomorrow, sun with you sun with us!
Thanks for the quick info on how a blog works.

admin says:
Maggan and Ingemar, ok that might be the case! These were top fed machines. Will try to choose front fed machines in the future!
Solan, unexciting laundry days for us today then... Too bad it was full at the spa. We hope for the nice weather!

We stayed there one night two years ago on our way to Portugal. Nowadays we don't use the Acsi card, as there are so many free or low-cost pitches. We had rain last night and an overcast morning, but then the sun has shone on us.

Ditte says:
What a nice campsite! And close to the sea! I think the warmer weather will come this weekend. Too bad about the laundry! We have sometimes left laundry in "town" when we have been away for a long time and the price has often been good. Sometimes we have found public machines in the village. But one assumes that washing machines on a campsite will wash clean. But no! Boring! Maybe some good food can make up for it all. You will get plenty of experiences...

BP says:
Too bad that neither the weather nor the washing machines are on your side... Generally speaking, in Spain at least, laundry takes at least twice as long to wash than here at home. Temperatures below 60 degrees are not worth the effort - the laundry doesn't get clean. But drying is fast - provided it doesn't rain, that is;-).
Hope you get some sun tomorrow!

Katta, everyday chores must be heard!
Anja, no, we thought about it before... but we are staying in Europe. We've been to Morocco twice before, and will need some other insurance if we go there...
Elisabeth, we also often stay in caravan parks, or fricamps. Here in Spain we are careful with our LPG (we can't refill it until France) so we have to do more camping...
Ditte, the campsite is nice! We'll have to find better washing machines later on!
Rolle and Carina, wonderful! We hope for better weather later on!

Looks absolutely wonderful! Clouds give nicer photos, you can think positively 🙂 but the sun will probably come back soon. Here in England, the snowdrops have just started to bloom in large fields.

Marina says:
As it seems, the weather in much of Europe is pretty shitty. But on the other hand, it must be bad, otherwise it can't get any better 😉.

Mr Steve says:
Yes, I understand that you waited a long time for the camping card. It saves a lot of money on a long trip like yours.

Ama de casa, haha of course that's the problem! That we are too dirty!
😉
Steel city Anna, clouds can be nice in pictures sometimes. But white-grey sky is usually boring... Lovely with flowering snowdrops!
Marina, yes, but of course there must be bad weather sometimes. And after rain comes sunshine
🙂
Steve, now it feels like we CAN stay at campsites. Without the card, it becomes impossible...

Ulla & Torgny, sad not to be able to wear white clothes. We had Swedish detergent and Vanish stain remover. I don't think the water got particularly hot... if at all? But have realised that this is a common problem!
13 February 2015 - 11:45
Ulla & Torgny says:
We have dropped off laundry, but it doesn't get any cleaner. Not sure if it's the water or the detergent. White laundry does not turn white....... here in Thailand I asked a girl why there are no white clothes? She replied that the water made it not white when washing the garments, but grey........
