As you may know, we live in a houseboat at home in Stockholm. Very cosy we think! You are always close to the water and in the summer you can jump straight down for a swim. In a press release, the holiday home agent NOVASOL now says that they are increasing their range of floating holiday homes.
Over 100 houseboats in different countries
NOVASOL has over 100 houseboats for holiday accommodation in Germany, Holland, France and Italy. One version, like ours, is permanently anchored to a jetty. The other version can be driven around on the water.
The houseboats accommodate 2-6 people and prices are similar to other holiday homes, ranging from just over €3,000 - €14,000 per week. Would you consider renting a floating house abroad on holiday?
BP says:
Absolutely! But pretty hefty prices, I must say.
Answer: unfortunately English middle-aged women dress just as badly at home too, and old WCT overalls never seem to be out for English men either. Grrrrrrrrrr;-)

We have rented a canal boat in France five times, and in England once. It is one of our absolute highlights when it comes to holidays. Fantastically nice! One of the times we had the boat for 10 days and passed 100 locks.

Yes, indeed! I have rented a canal boat in France a couple of times and it was great. I want to be able to move around and with these barges it goes at a slow pace and you can see a lot. In the Stockholm archipelago, however, I would not think of the idea, it would be too slow.

Mr Steve says:
No, that train has gone for me. Besides, I've never been a boat person. I feel safest on dry land. But sure, it's a nice way to have a holiday.

BP, the British have never been known for a good style of dress, it's true...
Ama de casa, sounds super nice with those canal boats! 100 locks... wow!
Anja, I imagine they charge a lot of money, especially in high season...
Ditte, canal boat in France sounds great!
Rolle and Carina, the motorhome is never wrong!
😉
Steve, luckily you have a really nice and cosy house... on land!

Would definitely rent a boat rather than a house! Seems very cosy and different and so you can get somewhere without having to leave "home" Perfect if you ask me 🙂.
