Of all the beaches we've seen in Spain so far, this has to be Spain's most beautiful beach. This beach, at the El Templo del Sol naturist campsite southwest of Tarragona, is long and surrounded by a hilly green landscape. Of course, this judgement is entirely subjective and the comparison is only based on the beaches we've happened to visit.
Spain's most beautiful beach - according to us
We've been travelling around Spain for a while now, and in our opinion the beach at El Templo del Sol is the most beautiful beach in Spain. From what we have seen, of course. The sand is fine-grained and the beach is both wide and long. It is surrounded by beautiful nature, but not a single hotel in sight, which is a bit unusual for Spain.
Instead, the naturist campsite El Templo del Sol right next door, so if you don't want to shed your clothes, this beach might be a little difficult to visit. Or do as we did, and come here in March when it's a bit chilly.
The El Templo del Sol campsite is located on the Spanish coast, near L'Hospitalet de l'Infant, about 4 miles south-west of Paris. Tarragona.
More great beaches in Spain
Of course, there are more great beaches in Spain! Here are six more beaches that we've enjoyed during our motorhome trip along the coast of Europe and Spain.
1. the beach in Zarautz
The beach in Zarautz in northern Spain is fine-grained and beautifully situated between two high mountains. Here you can enjoy beach life, but also experience nature and stroll around the small town.
2. the beach in Tarifa
I Tarifa is the southernmost point of Europe, and it's not far from Morocco. The beach is beautiful, but it's also exposed to the elements, making it perhaps best suited to windsurfers.
3. the beach of Peniscola
We were incredibly unlucky with the weather when we visited. Peniscola (thus, the torrential rain really!), but still we could see how nice the long sandy beach is. We understand why many people have recommended this beach!
4. Benidorm beach
The beach in Benidorm is for those who like the beach and the city. Here the skyscrapers are almost all the way down to the fine sandy beach. A little bit of USA feeling!
5. The beach in Torre del Mar
Torre del Mar is a nice holiday resort, and the beach here is also nice, if you think it is ok for a beach to be coarse-grained. This is a rather classic Spanish beach, straight and fine, and with a nice promenade running just above it.
6. the beach in Roquetas de Mar
I Roquetas de Mar is a long and very nice beach, albeit more gravel than sand, lined with stately palm trees. Just above the beach is the campsite of the same name.

It looks lovely! Wonderful colour of the water!
My favourite beach is here in "my" part of Spain:-)

BP, I think more natural beaches are more beautiful, but there is a point to sunbathing and swimming at a bigger city like Benidorm too!
Matts, isn't it hard when it's so crowded? Now there are different seasons too, but I still don't think it will be that crowded, there is hardly anything around....
JoY, agree!
Nils-Åke, Portugal has very nice beaches! We liked the beach in Gale at Albufeira. In Tavira we were never at the beach (except in the surroundings a bit) but we have seen pictures! Seems very nice!
Casa Annika, oh it sounds very dramatic with a rope to get down! But then it will probably not be so crowded with people!!!? Will go into the link as soon as I finish writing here.
Marina, it's so nice to have you join us!

Ditte says:
What a lovely beach and of course I want sand and not gravel. Have noted the name for future needs.
At La Mata, in the northern part of Torrevieja, the beach is several kilometres long and wide, with lovely sand dunes and beautiful greenery. But your beach looked more beautiful to me.
But when it comes to beaches in the world, I choose one in Fiji, an atoll with chalk-white sand and turquoise water and virtually no buildings.

In itself, I have not seen so many of Spain's beaches, but our favourite beach in Spain is below camping CalaGogo just north of Platja D´Aro. There is the beach and nature around as if you are in Croatia 🙂.

Ditte, I suspect there may be some nice beaches here and there in Spain, if you know about them. Note that this beach is probably a naturist beach (although it's mostly empty right now), but there are probably equally nice beaches around. However, I have been a bit surprised that so many beaches in Spain are gravel beaches!
Kors and Tvärs, thanks for the tips! Will have to look at a map to see where it is!

Nice beach it was! Well, I never travel so there have not been so many beaches, mostly the one at Östra Silen and they are nice but not so big. as a young man I was of course once in the Canary Islands and there was a nice beach at Maspalomas.
