Today we have found a campsite in Tarragona in Spain. The campsite is really nice and located right next to a beautiful sandy beach. Our plan is to stay at this campsite for a few days, among other things to visit Tarragona and to check out the Easter celebrations in Spain.

Camping in Tarragona
Today we have found the campsite Torre de la Mora, just outside Tarragona. The campsite is really nice, with a beautiful beach right outside. We stand right next to the sandy beach, with a thin net in between. There are also motorhome pitches higher up on a hill (in the photo) but they were probably full when we arrived.
sandy beach
We think the Spanish coast is much more beautiful at this end, closer to the Mediterranean coast of France. Here the sand is fine-grained and the surroundings are green. Further south, the beaches are often gravel, and are surrounded by desert landscape and greenhouse. The campsite here, outside the campsite, is magically beautiful with its fine-grained sand and green surroundings.
Visiting Tarragona
You can easily visit Tarragona from the campsite. A short walk from the campsite is a bus stop, where buses run regularly into town and back. Read more about Tarragona, which is a city with a long history and many ancient remains.
Easter celebrations in Tarragona
It's Easter, and Easter is a big holiday in Spain with impressive processions through the cities. Our (ill-conceived) plan was to watch the celebrations in Barcelona, until our blogger friend Annika informed us that Easter celebrations are not very big in Barcelona.
We did some googling and realised that she is very right! Perhaps the best place to watch the processions is in cities like Malaga, Cordoba or Seville, but in "our neighbourhood" Tarragona seemed a good choice. Here you can read more about Easter celebrations in Spain.

It looks absolutely marvellous. A great place to celebrate Easter if you can also get to the "city" to watch Spanish Easter celebrations. For us it will be celebrated in snow caves in the mountains. Souvas, palt and roast pork, maybe a piece of sausage too, cooked over an open fire. Not bad either.

BP says:
Beautiful!
Check online if the processions are not first Saturday/Sunday/Monday. Was it not the case that Jesus died on Good Friday and then rose again on Easter Sunday? I'm not very good at it ...
Are you going on to Sitges? A place a colleague of mine highly recommends!
Happy Easter by the way!

Henny, your Easter celebration sounds cosy and almost exotic. Wishing you a great Easter!
Deciree, now we have really nice weather. Some days over 20 degrees. Today it was 19 degrees.
Steve, you too!
BP, thanks for the tip! I have checked the programme and understand that the biggest is tomorrow, Good Friday. Something at 12, something at 16 and something at 20, don't really understand the difference though... Don't know about Sitges, have to google it!

I think you are making wise choices, staying in a good campsite. We would also do that in the same situation as you. A car park with hundreds of cars does not look inviting to me. Have a really happy Easter

Ditte says:
How nice that you have found a good campsite that is beautifully situated by the sea. Nice surroundings are just as important.
Nice to take the bus to Tarragona and see the city and maybe see some processions.
We were in Spain last Easter and there were huge processions that were fun to watch. Easter is the biggest holiday in Spain and it's fun to take part in what happens there in these times.
It is exciting to follow your experiences.

Alexandra says:
When you have finished in Tarragona, there is a very cosy little town north of Barcelona called Calella and there is a nice campsite called Bonna Vista. But it is probably most pleasant when it is summer there and you can swim (do not know what your temperature is now).
Happy Easter! 🙂

Matts, it's nice to have a nice campsite! Then it feels important to leave the car in a safe place when we go into town.
Ditte, we understand that Easter is an important holiday! Tomorrow will be interesting.
Alexandra, thank you so much for the tips! The weather is nice and you can sunbathe quite often, but maybe not swim. Will look at the map where it is located and think about how we should continue the journey.
