Now we are back in Cap d'Agde and have got our training tent again. So why are we staying here for so long? Well, after months of caravanning, we feel an enormous need to start exercising properly. All the sitting in a motorhome and in a camping chair not only gives us bonus kilos but also back pain (Peter) and headaches (Helena). So now we want to get started in earnest!
Tapout XT training programme
Faithful readers may know that we like the training programme. Tapout XT. It is an American MMA-inspired fitness programme that includes both strength and conditioning, as well as yoga. All you need apart from the programme is a TV, rubber bands and (possibly) weight gloves.
The pace is fast, but we like it because it is so varied. The programme contains 12 different discs of about 45 minutes each with new exercises almost every minute, so it's hard to get bored. And we like it because we never have been sweating so much on something gym ...
Next level - Tapout XT 2
We have now started Tapout XT 2! This is a further development of the programme, with increased intensity. According to the instructions, you shouldn't try it until you have run the first programme 6 days a week for 90 days... We are probably too untrained, but since we have run the first programme in several rounds (with interruptions and breaks) it feels fun and inspiring to try something new!
The difference? Each session is about 60 minutes instead of 45, the intensity is higher and you also use medicine balls and jump ropes. Great fun and hilariously tough! Can we do it? Well, we modify some of the exercises and do fewer repetitions, but it's still a good workout, we promise!
A film about training
Do you think we are training maniacs? Yes, probably, but soon we will move on and there will be more sightseeing and less training. Soon we are planning a trip to Sète, and then we will focus on other things than training!
In this 15-second video, which I borrowed from Peter's Instagram, you can see how our training goes, roughly speaking. Only that the sessions are not 15 seconds but 60 minutes with a lot of different exercises ... Phew!
Birgitta says:
wise of you to exercise! to just laze around and drive a campervan gives a weak body:-) and a weak brain. We will see Carcasonne when we drive down in September. Now it is almost only you left in southern Europe, yes motorhome-borne Swedes, all my other blog friends are home or almost home. But I get to follow you almost another year, wonderful!

Lena in Wales says:
Even though I don't exercise myself, I understand your need to stop and recover.
Interesting with pictures from Carcasonne, was there several times when I lived in France.
And the French food, so good!
Excited to follow you!
Have a nice weekend!

Hmmm... Well... I think I'll stick to my maras, me. The tapas variant, that is.
😀

Alexandra says:
Good there Helena, but Peter it looks like you are cheating a bit with one arm in the back Hihi.
No, you're both very good at it! Isn't it nice to move around and feel strong?

Birgitta, yes, it is probably true that most of the overwinterers have gone home, or at least are on their way home! But we are still here until November! Great that you are going to Carcassonne!
Lena in Wales, well apart from the need for training, it's nice just to catch up and digest all the impressions!
Ama de casa, I would love to do that too, sounds both nice and delicious!!!
Alexandra, haha you might be right there! But it's probably mostly because Peter set the self-timer on the tripod and then ran to his position... What's not to do for the blog?
😉

BP says:
I agree with AMA, although I have no tapas maras available here...
Alternatively, I think long walks with lots of pit stops are a great way to get at least leg muscles;-)

BP, it's all about finding a form of exercise you enjoy, they say...

Go, go, go, really keep your fingers crossed that you will avoid X-tra kilos while travelling. Maybe it's time to decide that buying clothes because of X-tra kilos is taboo 😉.

Veiken says:
Smart to get the whole body moving. You probably also get a bit restless when you're on the road for so long!
There's a lot to discover in France and you do it with confidence! 🙂

Ninni, Henrik and the Knasen motorhome says:
How good you are. We are bad at exercising so it's mostly walks and more walks. It would be good to do other things too. But sometimes laziness takes over. Have a continued good trip.

Across the board says:
How diligent you are. But it's probably all too easy to stay in the lazy holiday slump that we so easily fall into.

Seems tough, but when I looked at the link, I can see that it makes a difference. That's worth some effort. Keep up the good work!

Marina says:
It's fantastic if you manage to keep up and carry out the training programme regularly. As it is, it's a little easy sometimes to say "not today", although if you are two, it is more difficult to escape ...

What you are good at keeping going. No slacking only there:)) Hugs to you both.

Lena, sounds like a good decision to make!
🙂
Veiken, there's a lot to discover, but it's good to be fit to keep going!
🙂
Anki, glad to hear that you enjoy following our journey and our blog!
Lennart, cycling is good! We miss bikes sometimes, but definitely don't have the space for it...
😉
Steve, you get tired of doing that too, lobar!
😉
Lars and Inger, we probably feel much better when we always exercise. Take care!
Ninni, walking is of course good, but maybe even better in combination with something else. But you have to find something you like and enjoy!
Sure, a holiday lunch might be okay if you have a few weeks' holiday. But there's a difference when you're travelling for a year...
Elisabeth, it definitely makes a difference if you stick with it!
Marina, it's great to be two and push each other!
Deciree, we are doing our best! Hugs
FantasyDining, we tell each other that we have nothing to blame now that we don't even work!
😉

Hello!
I am mostly wondering where you have ordered Tapout Xt2. I have searched everywhere but without results... And do you get that ball with it or do you have to buy it separately?
