Two days ago we arrived in the village of Aiguines in France on the lake Lac de Sainte Croix, which is connected to the river Verdon in the Grand Canyon of Europe. Now we are at camping L'Aigle and here we have a great view, both of the castle Chateau Aiguines and the lake Lac de Sainte Croix.
Camping L'Aigle at Aiguines in France
We are now with the motorhome at the camping de l'Aigle, which is located at the village of Aiguines. The campsite is located at high altitude and from here you have a fantastic view of the lake. Lac de Sainte Croix and the surrounding mountains. The photo of the chairs is from the reception building which is at the very top. The seats are then just below. It's quite hilly, so it was a bit of a challenge to find a reasonably flat spot, but in the end it was fine.
We're enjoying the sun and really having a great time here. For WiFi to work, we have to go up to the reception building, but it works fine. Otherwise, we do not miss anything. This is how a campsite should look and be because it feels like a pitch and you stand wherever you want, and what a view! You have to experience this if you come to Gorges Du Verdon.
Long walk
As the campsite is high up, it's a long walk down. We first visited the small village of Aiguines in France, and then walked down. Down to the lake is an hour's walk though, and even more when you go wrong, as we learnt yesterday ...
Really tired and sweaty, there was at least a lovely dip in the lake (bathing premiere!). On the way up we were joined by our super nice Dutch camping neighbours, so the uphill climb did not feel so hard after all!

Such wonderful views and great weather.
We northerners are very dependent on sun and heat.
You seem to have found some real gems.
Enjoy your journey.

Looks so cosy! To go out and have breakfast in the sun and heat, so beautiful. Dutch is such a nice language, so similar to Swedish, although the pronunciation is a bit funny 🙂 when I was a Erasmus student, we used to write notes to each other in Dutch and Swedish and almost always understood the Englishman's pronunciation 🙂 talking on the other hand was not possible. Quite often, however, when I have had Swedes who necked on, people think we are from Holland so it must be the same in other languages!

Just wrote on Insta that your pictures make me very homesick. This is what the alleys look like in our village too and the warmth and landscape is also so homely. We just passed that funny little castle, fun to see it up close. It is wonderfully beautiful up there.
Enjoy the sun and warmth. Here in Roslagen it's April weather but cold as hell, around ten degrees during the day. And cold winds. Not nice at all. In just over a week we start rolling home again, it will be nice!!!
Are you going down to the coast afterwards? And back to the Languedoc? A nice place to visit on the way is Cotignac, city of artists. Has a monastery up on a hill with great views, I think it is famous because Mary had an apparition there and it is part of the walk to Compostela.
I agree with Anna that it is easy to both understand and read Dutch. We also meet many nice Dutch people. I don't think many people realise how international and pleasant motorhome and camping life is, you get to practise languages, meet nice people, listen to each other's experiences and exchange tips. For us it goes very fast because we have a tiny poodle that everyone wants to cuddle with as well!

JoY, right now the weather is both beautiful and fantastic so yes, we are having a great time!
Maggan and Ingemar, yes now we have it good! Warm and nice too! Hope you soon get some more spring heat in Sweden!
Steel city Anna, agree that Dutch is nice, a bit funny and a bit here and there understandable. When Peter told me he was a "carpenter" they translated it to "carpenter" in Dutch! And you're absolutely right about the smileys. They end up first on the line where you write them, unfortunately. I haven't managed to fix that...
Monica, it sounds like you live very cosy! I understand that you are longing for home, especially since it is so cold in Sweden! Yes, we are going down to the coast later! Have not planned in detail, but thanks for the tips! Interesting that you also usually meet nice Dutch people! We always meet nice people from Holland, it seems that Swedes and Dutch people understand each other quite well, both linguistically and culturally!
BP, yes, there is exercise, and it is counted too!
😉
Rolle and Carina, yes now it's good, especially with the sudden summer heat. Glad you're joining us!
Steve, yes, right now we are more fascinated than we have been for almost the entire trip!
😉
Lennart, really, both the view and the weather are great!
Marina, we really do!
