Camping Le Ranch is a campsite in Cannes that is ideal for visiting the French city of Cannes. There are large, beautiful campsites here and the bus to the city goes right outside the entrance.
New plans in Cannes
Attentive and geographically savvy readers will realise that we have been driving back and forth along the French Riviera. Change of plans simply! We had initially planned to drive to the Roma festival in Camargue and then take the ferry to Corsica from Toulon. Then we realised that it would be a long drive and an extra expensive ferry. Instead, we have rolled up to Cannes to try to take the ferry from Nice. And here, as you know, there is a completely different festival going on ...
Camping Le Ranch
We have found a campsite in Cannes called The Ranch. Here we have the largest camping plot of the whole trip so far. Here, as at most campsites in France, there is 16 ampere electricity in the poles and the electricity is included in the price (big difference from Spain).
Peter is happy because then he can get "real" coffee on beans in the coffee machine! It is quiet and peaceful, the large camping plots are clearly separated by hedges, the service buildings are fresh, the showers are good and there is a swimming pool.
WiFi also works well here and on almost all French campsites, but as usual costs extra. Just outside, the bus goes into the centre of Cannes, so of course we go there tomorrow!

Inga-Lill Gustafsson says:
But pitches can be small, with barely a metre between cars. If you stay in Cannes and watch the film festival, it's a great experience. We've been there twice.

Inga-Lill Gustafsson says:
If you're there during the film festival, you can't miss it. It's all over town, but the big centre is down by the promenade, which is where you see it on TV. There are lots of fences set up, and all the limos come (lots of photographers and curious people).
21 May 2015 - 17:58
admin says:
Inga-Lill, the film festival sounds exciting! We look forward to tomorrow, it will be interesting. Of course we will return with a small report! 🙂

BP says:
Yes, at that location you can have an after-party for the film festival winners;-)
Thought of you as they showed on the BBC that there will be storms and rain in and around Corsica tomorrow and Saturday. So "stay put" there in that luxurious place and explore Cannes!

Nilla says:
Cannes Film Festival, so I'm not a bit jealous!!!!
And then Corsica!
Will be very fun to follow. This summer we are going to Croatia but next year it might be France 🙂.
Goodbye

BP, haha, yes, the film festival winners will be very keen on the after party... 😉 And help, I hope the storm subsides as soon as possible... we are going to Corsica on Monday!
Nilla, Croatia sounds wonderful, and you should definitely invest in France! Funny that you want to follow our journey! 🙂

Ditte says:
The film festival is not to be missed and Cannes is nice for a couple of days. Nice with a big plot...but no sea view right here. But on the other hand, you have now seen so much water that it might be nice to have something else to rest your eyes on.
Have a nice trip to Cannes.
21 May 2015 - 21:37
Across the board says:
Large seats don't matter, it's nice to have some room to manoeuvre. And good with 16 amps in the pole!
21 May 2015 - 21:50
Lots of other stuff and some concrete says:
So glad you ended up in Cannes anyway!
We attended the festival in 1973 when a film we were involved in was being sold. So much fun to see all the lovely famous people and fantastic cars and boats. And we got to see a lot of films.
Hope you take some pictures tomorrow.

Mrs Anne-Marie says:
If you visit the film festival, you must report on the shoes. 🙂
I think I was in Cannes when I was on the Riviera during my language trip.
How convenient that you can take the bus into Cannes.
22 May 2015 - 0:30
Mr Steve says:
No congestion at that campsite. I have assumed that as a result of the road choices, the travel route has changed.
Of course you should rub shoulders with the people at the film festival. Being a Swedish visitor is particularly appropriate this time as Ingrid Bergman's life and acting career are given special attention.
I understand very well that Peter appreciates being able to drink "his own coffee".
Bus outside the "door". You know how to organise it well for you.
A friend and I visited the French Riviera when we were young in the late 1960s and visited Nice, Cannes and Juan-Les-Pins. Brigitte Bardot was then associated with the latter resort. How exciting it was. Why did we go there? Well, we were adventurous young boys from Norrland who wanted to impress our surroundings.

admin says:
Ditte, right here we are 2 km from the sea, but today there will be a bus to the centre where there is also a sea (7 km). It will be interesting to see some of what is going on!
Across the board, there is a real difference between Spain and France when it comes to electricity. In Spain it was always 6 amps and only certain kWh included. Here it is usually 16 amps and unlimited.
Agneta, oh how fun and exciting! How were you involved in the film?
Anne-Marie, of course I will look at the shoes! 😉 Yes, often such city campsites with a bus are located outside, conveniently. Do you speak any French then?
Steve, how nice that you were here in the 60s! It must have been exciting! We will of course return with a report tonight or so.

Anja says:
...and in wonderful SHADE! I wonder if this is the same campsite we visited once. Did you hear a bunch of toads singing last night????
22 May 2015 - 9:12
admin says:
Anja, toads? Haha, no we didn't... There are many different campsites around Cannes. We chose this one because it is listed in the ACSI catalogue (i.e. discounted price) and because it seemed to be fairly central. Not by the water though.
22 May 2015 - 9:30
Ama de casa says:
Unexpected to get such a big place in Cannes... But nice! Put up the tent and practice! 🙂
22 May 2015 - 10:30
Henny says:
I look forward to a mingle report from the film festival. So exciting to be there and so much fun this year when our great star Ingrid Bergman is at the centre.
22 May 2015 - 15:23
Anki says:
The coastline west of Cannes is our favourite route. Fantastic with the red cliffs, the Esterel mountains I think they are called, that go all the way down to the sea?
22 May 2015 - 16:31
admin says:
Ama de casa, yes a bit unexpected... If Peter hadn't hurt his back (so we had to have a training break) it would have been great...!
Henny, now we have produced a little "mingle report"... if it can be called that 😉.
Anki, it sounds fantastic! I think we went a little higher up... Very green and quite high up in the mountains!
