The Cannes Film Festival in France! Today we rubbed shoulders with celebrities at the Cannes Film Festival. Or did we? We've been watching from afar anyway! We find that Cannes is a beautiful city on the French Riviera with everything from the charming old town to the famous La Croisette promenade. Join us in Cannes, France!
Not just for the rich
The sense of luxury is not diminished by the enormous luxury yachts crowded together in the harbour - almost all with 'Georgetown' emblazoned on them and the Cayman Islands flag flying in the wind. Why you'd want to boast about being a tax dodger when you're so rich is beyond us...?
Is Cannes only for the rich? No, we think Cannes is a nice town with a charming old neighbourhood, where you can also find shops and restaurants with price levels for ordinary mortals. For our part, we had mussels and French fries for 10 euros/person for lunch. Not bad at all!
Being a celebrity photographer at the Cannes Film Festival
The Cannes Film Festival is the world's most prestigious film festival, held in May in Cannes almost every year since 1946. A host of awards are presented, including the coveted Palme d'Or and the Grand Jury Prize. Ingrid Bergman, who would have been 100 years old in August this year, is this year's 'poster girl' for the documentary 'I am Ingrid'. This means that we Swedes can feel a little proud, even if Sweden is not otherwise represented.
You can't miss the Cannes Film Festival when you're here! There are posters of Ingrid Bergman on every street corner, shops are displaying mannequins with film reels around their necks and there are barriers, police, limousines and people in fabulous creations everywhere. Did we see any celebrities? Yes, of course, we crowded around to get a picture! What not to do for the blog?

How marvellous Cannes. So now you have a boat instead, no, you do not leave a motorhome. HaHa

How nice to see!
My father-in-law worked as a stage manager, hired extras and did some roles. We helped with transport, etc. on this shoot. And then we were at the festival to promote the film.
Stay well!

BP says:
1. 10 Euro - a normal day's lunch - like a raggmunk - easily goes for 98 kronor (without beer) in Vasastan, so the lunch in Cannes must be seen as a bargain, clearly.
2. It's cool that you ended up in the middle of the action, so to speak. A picture of Gérard Depardieu is not a bad thing, even if he has seen the best before date a long time ago. But on the other hand - you take what you have. Celebrity spotting is not that easy.
3. A great post that contained most of the information. Love it:-)

Solan, it's not often the bill is wrong like that... and maybe there aren't so many people who are soooo honest either!? Oh, have you worked at Svensk Damtidning... I didn't know that! Understand that there were a lot of celebrity reports then!
Robin, right? 😉
Asa, we would have loved to see the Roma festival too! But when we started calculating the extra cost of petrol and the more expensive boat, it didn't seem quite worth it. Funnily enough, Cannes and Nice became a cheaper option than a Roma festival...! 😉
Nils-Åke, you can't get rid of the motorhome...! And to get a boat like this you have to trade in hundreds of motorhomes or something, haha 😉.
Agneta, oh, it must have been interesting to be involved in that way and see a bit from the "inside"! 🙂
BP, I can only agree! In Stockholm you can hardly get mussels for lunch for a hundred bucks. And when it comes to celebrities... haha, you have to work harder if you want more to choose from...! We'll see what happens today! 😉

Luxuries there. Sometimes it feels really good to be reminded of how nice it is to belong to the "ordinary mortals".

I also write about Cannes on my blog! But not because I was there, but because my daughter-in-law, Carin, was there and did some work for Elle magazine. She did an interview with Cate Blanchette and sent a picture. Looks nice!

Steve, just being here feels a bit luxurious, even if you are visiting as a mere mortal! 🙂
Inga M, nice that she got an interview with Cate Blanchett, she is one of the big stars here!

Nilla says:
Soooo cool I just say!!! And what weather you have!
It's amazing that you can take a campervan to Cannes, it didn't exist in my world a couple of years ago! ? Then I only knew about charter and cruise, think how much more you get to see now!!!!
Have a good time?

Snows says:
A nice city that was packed with tourists when we were there in early August. But then it is at the Mediterranean that period so you have to expect to be crowded 😉.
23 May 2015 - 10:11
admin says:
Nilla, it's fantastic to travel with a motorhome! You also do not have to travel to just ONE destination, but you can travel around between a lot of different places, sooo heavenly good! 🙂
Znogge, August is probably the "worst" month down in southern Europe, in terms of tourist numbers! Now it is calmer, but of course a lot of people and crowds at the film festival area.

Moules Frites for lunch is something you can live with 😉.
Did you sit on Peter's shoulder instead of climbing ladders when you were a paparazzi photographer?

Ditte says:
Thank you for some flavour from Cannes, it felt very good to get there again. Lovely pictures that give more flavour.
Here at home, I have followed some reports on TV from the film festival and understood that the film with her has attracted a lot of attention. Great fun!
Lunch for 10 euros sounds like more or less a bargain compared to Stockholm prices. And the quality of the mussels is certainly higher.
Stay well!
23 May 2015 - 10:48
admin says:
Ama de casa, but how could we...? We should have thought of that already when we packed the campervan at home in Sweden! 😉
Across the way, we found a small wall to stand on... you have to be inventive when playing paparazzi! 🙂
Ditte, do you mean the woman in the picture (or Kate Blanchett as mentioned in the thread?)? The one in the picture is Isabelle Huppert, from the film Valley of Love, right? The mussels were really good, but on the French west coast they were even better! 😉

Lena & Jan says:
Thank you for letting us mingle in Cannes! We have a memory from there, when we rolled into a vacant car park in front of the marina and a uniformed (including gold cords / shoulder flaps, white gloves, patent leather shoes, half-jumping man came towards us and waved us away in a way that we understood exactly what he meant ha-ha ??? ?? ?

Cannes is really a nice city. Never been there during the film festival, but posed on the famous staircase!
Nice to see a Swedish face in the festival. Ingrid Bergman was really great.
Have a nice Pentecost!

Lena & Jan, haha I can just imagine that you immediately understand what they mean !!!! Right now it does not look easy to park in the city ... but it has worked very smoothly to take the bus from the campsite!
Anja, wonderful, I can see that!!! 🙂
Lena in Wales, film festival or not, it's a nice town! And it's fun to see Ingrid Bergman's face everywhere in the city! 🙂
