Palavas Les Flots is located on a small spit of land outside Montpellier, France. This is a charming little town with boats, canals, outdoor cafes and a cable car. It feels like little Venice and how many people have missed out on this gem in France? Join us in Palavas Les Flots with pictures and story!

Fishing and tourism
Palavas les Flots sits on a narrow spit of land with water on both sides, so it's no wonder that both fishing and tourism play a major role here. The fishing boats crowd the tourist boats and along the waterfront there are plenty of restaurants serving fresh fish and mussels, recently taken from the sea. There are also plenty of ice cream parlours and shops selling summer dresses, swimwear and beach toys.
Cable car over the canal
We have had fantastic summer weather today with sunshine and around 25 degrees, so it has been a very nice day. We have strolled back and forth along the quays and looked at boats, and at the very special cable car that is here. We couldn't resist shopping for a bath towel each either. Look at the picture and you'll see why!

Why think?
When we found these bath towels, we walked past and talked about it for a long time along the canals. Do we need those? Is it unnecessary? How stupid can you be? We bought the FREEDOM towels and we don't regret it.
RV park in Palavas les Flots
Tonight we are staying at a large campervan site here in Palavas les Flots, which we were told about. The site is nicely located by a marina with easy walking distance to the centre and there is good service. The price is about 14 euros/night without electricity and about 17 euros/night with electricity, so it's about as expensive as an ACSI campsite (which usually costs 16 euros/day). Tomorrow we're heading for Arles!

How nice! And cosy with the cable car over the river. Can really understand the purchase of your bath towels. Absolutely perfect! New visit here for me but in Montpellier and the surrounding areas I have been. Is actually a France fanatic.

Of course you should buy those beach towels! A cable car across the river was unusual, most cities build bridges instead 😉.

Ah what lovely bath towels - they are probably from the generation before you/camper vans because folkabuss is a bit the archetype of freedom on wheels - but the development goes on 🙂 .
God roll our Euro-trotters!

Ditte, I understand that you are a France fan! France is soooo beautiful! Fantastic to drive around this country!
Inga M, agree! Do not know if it was difficult with the bridge because there are quite high boats underneath? And so they earn a little money on each trip... (16 kr to go over...)
Frankie & Co, of course they were nice! Yes, it's a little more hippie car, but feels just right anyway!
Steve, we are super happy with our new bath sheets!
🙂
BP, when we saw the towel displayed outside the shop we had a good laugh too!
🙂
Rolle and Carina, there are many nice places in France! Everything we pass is beautiful!!!
