Sperone - islands, beaches and canoeing! WOW, what a place we found east of Bonifacio in Corsica. in Sperone there are nice beaches, a golf course with magnificent views, several small islands and rental of different kinds of boats for a canoe trip and we did. Follow us around Sperone in Corsica and the crystal clear water!
Table of contents
Turquoise water
The water is turquoise and shallow. In fact, one of the islands is so shallow that you can wade across! We never did that, but we still got across to the island of Ile Piana yesterday by paddling. We saw several others wading back and forth. We have walked a lot back and forth along the beautiful beaches, and of course sunbathing and swimming.
Sperone is located just south-east of Bonifacio and is incredibly beautiful with white beaches, small islands and turquoise crystal clear water. The entire island is made up of beautiful beaches and Sperone is said to have the clearest water in Corsica. Here you will find Plage du Grand Sperone and Plage du Petit Sperone.

The clearest waters in Corsica
We can only agree with what the French themselves say because this is almost scary clear water. It feels so clean to swim here, a little spa feeling, haha. You should go here if you visit Corsica.

Canoeing and skinny dipping in Sperone
Yesterday we rented a canoe and paddled around on the turquoise water. To rent a two-man canoe for three hours, we had to pay 34 euros. And it was really worth it. What an amazing canoe trip!
One of the most amazing things here in Corsica (besides the fine via sand and clear turquoise water) is that in many places you are relatively alone. When we paddled to the island yesterday, we could swim naked - it was just us and the birds!

Cavallo
Cavallo with its two islands, San Baiinso Island and Camaro Canto Island is part of the Lavazzo Islands. It takes an hour from Bonifacio to get out here to Cavallo. This is where millionaires have built their homes and is carved into the rocks. There is a famous fish restaurant on the island and it is easy to get here as a tourist. Most beaches are private but you can swim in the beautiful beach in the harbour. Roman remains and old wrecks have also been found here.

Golf du Sperone
Here you will find a little more than beaches and it is Golf de Sperone that is Corsica's largest and perhaps the world's most beautiful golf course. You play golf along the turquoise Mediterranean Sea and it is certainly difficult to keep the concentration on the game for all the beauty around.
The Romania villa in Piantarella
Around 260 BC, the Romans began to take an interest in the island of Corsica because of its forest and stone. It was only in the first century that they built La villa Romanie de Piantarella next to Petit Sperone. The ruins remain of the large complex but on private land. It is possible to walk around and look at the ruins of a 1,800 kilometre long house, stables, offices, workshops and salt storehouses. The private harbour and dry dock along the coast can be seen if you visit Sperone.
Bonifacio
It takes 20 minutes to get from Bonifacio to Sperone by car or local bus. You can also rent a scooter in Bonifacio to get here, which is a must when you're in the neighbourhood in Corsica.

Camping Les iles
We found Camping Les Iles, on the coast near Sperone. Here we recharge our batteries (literally) and enjoy the beautiful beaches.

A perfect introduction for those who have Corsica on their next destination list. Anyone who didn't have the island on their list will surely add it now after following you.
Here it was 9°C this morning. Happy Midsummer!

Åsa, yes, we've heard about the bad Midsummer weather... but I think it's almost always cold at Midsummer in Sweden!
Nils-Åke, thank you very much!
Steve, yes, travelling around with a motorhome is good in that you get to see a lot and can stop wherever you feel like it. Too bad it's so cold in Sweden!
BP, Peter has read it and the other books by Arne Dahl. He liked them and thanks for the tip! (I don't read crime fiction) Happy Midsummer!
Ditte, thank you! We will also return soon with pictures from Bonifacio. Happy midsummer!

Anja, in Corsica you really can be alone! Of course, some beaches are more crowded than others, but there are plenty of places where you can be left alone!
Ama de casa, yes a little cheating was perhaps... 😉 And of course you should go to Corsica! 🙂
Anne-Marie, Corsica is truly beautiful. Well... we have eaten strawberries today, don't know if that counts!? 😉
Matts, what's big and small is of course subjective, but it's not that small 😉.
