Now we have found a favourite place in Sardinia where we feel comfortable! As soon as we rolled in yesterday we felt that "Here we stay for a while!". We started in Alghero on the west coast yesterday afternoon and drove south - on nice winding roads along the coast.
Winding roads
Driving along the west coast of Sardinia is beautiful. The roads are winding and everywhere you go you have a view of the endless sea.
A favourite spot in Sardinia
Suddenly this caravan park/nature campsite appeared! In the middle of mountains and wild vegetation (not a house in sight!) we saw a bunch of motorhomes. Are they free camping, we wondered.
We found a small dirt road in and at it stood a lonely man at a small wooden building that could be called reception. He was obviously not used to visits from Sweden but guessed "Stuttgart" when he saw our "S" on the car... The place is called "Area Camper Attrezzara S'abba Druche".
What we appreciate in a caravan park/campsite
Everyone likes different types of campsites, but this is exactly the kind of place that appeals to us! You're in the middle of green nature with the sea just below. There are no staff and no set locations - just a short walk to the beach and another to the restaurant next door.
Anyone who wants high standards would probably complain about the small rough toilet block with only two toilets and the fact that the man at the entrance doesn't speak English - but we love it here! We don't even know the name of the place, but it's about a mile north of Bosa and you can see the motorhomes from the road. The price is 20 euros/day incl. electricity. We have WiFi via the restaurant (one-off cost: 2 euros).
What we appreciate in a caravan park/campsite: Beautiful and wild nature, close to the beach (or town/sightseeing), water, possibility to empty/fill tanks, waste management, toilets and showers, washing machine, electricity, WiFi, relaxed atmosphere, low price.
We don't need this at a caravan site/campsite.: Huge areas where staff have to drive around in golf carts, cumbersome check-in with double passports and signature forms, long information leaflets with rules, SPA/beauty centre, water slides, playgrounds, loud activities for children and adults, shows in the evening, huge barbecue areas adapted for school classes/camp activities.

Too bad all this beauty is in Italy. My attitude towards Italy may change over the years. I also disliked the French the first year, until I realised that Swedes and French can be equally stupid. Have a good time

Wonderful! Definitely agree with what I think characterises a good campsite/site. But also some proximity within reasonable walking distance a well-equipped shop. It doesn't have to be big but have some fresh food, fruit and vegetables. Sometimes there are shops on the campsite ....
And as far as the language is concerned, it's Italy and Italian, and most things can be solved with the help of sign language and a bit of willpower.
Enjoy and keep up the good work.

Congratulations! Looks absolutely perfect! Can understand, that you like the place.
No high-rise hotels nearby to spoil the view.
Several small sandy beaches are much more pleasant than
kilometre-long, overcrowded ones.

Great that you have finally found a favourite place in Sardinia. It was about time, I think, because in Corsica almost all your sites were real bargains. You even have a restaurant as a neighbour. Perfect!
Oh I completely agree with your like and dislike list. Because the latter is far too reminiscent of charter trips à la Ving/Fritidsresor in the 1980s and 1990s. Awful!

Matts, we found the French very nice, happy and polite! We don't have such a positive experience with Italians, but nothing specifically negative either...
Elisabeth, I think you might like this place!
Ditte, you hit the nail on the head, or whatever it's called. There's no shop nearby (as far as we know) and we hadn't stocked up just before coming here so supplies are slowly running out. Fresh fruit and vegetables are the first things to go...
Ruth in Virginia, that's what's so great, no big (or even small) hotels in sight. And we like small beaches too!
BP, there are a lot of such campsites and they really feel like charters. In addition, they are often expensive which makes it even worse... 😉.

You find really nice places. One such place is to our taste as well. Once we accidentally ended up in a huge campsite. There was a train whistling and travelling around with people, horrible and we left early the next morning.

It certainly sounds like a nice campsite.
Having nature and water nearby is important.
Prefer your first list. 🙂 Although I have never camped in a motorhome.

Rolle and Carina, there are so many nice places! Thank you, we are really enjoying it!
JoY, we have also ended up in such places sometimes! You can laugh afterwards, but right then you go crazy, haha 😉 😉
Anne-Marie, the best thing about camping is that you can often get very close to nature and water! 🙂

We have about the same views on what a good and nice campsite should have and not have. But on my list, good Wiffi comes higher up 😉.
Looks great there! But it may take a while before the trees grow up and give the shade that is not so stupid to get the natural way 🙂 .

Oh! How I agree with what you appreciate in a car park!
Yes! Bosa should apparently be very nice (since you are now north of Bosa). Probably some tourists, just like in Alghero, but a tip anyway.
