We continue to explore Sardinia! Today we have driven a bit out on the cape in the northwest where the town of Stintino is located. There are supposed to be fantastic beaches here (we have only seen a small part yet) and outside is the island "Isola Asinara" (Donkey Island), which is a national park and where there are supposed to be wild albino donkeys.
Flag with four severed heads
We are driving like crazy right now. Recently we drove across Sardinia, stopping for a night at a local restaurant. camping in Porto Torres. Now we have come to this cape in the south-west. We only drove a little bit out on the headland before we saw lots of "motorhome friends".
We parked next to the other motorhomes, have been sunbathing and swimming on the chalk-white beach and plan to stay here tonight. We also took the opportunity to show the flag of Sardinia, which is reminiscent of Sardinia. Flag of Corsica. The difference is that it not only represents one decapitated head of a North African leader ... without four!
BP says:
My husband immediately commented on the flag and said:
"Well, four severed heads and then they use the English cross."
England's flag only has a red cross and everyone thinks that the UK flag is the same as the English version, but that's not the case.
He almost took it liiiiiiite personally;-)

Mrs Anne-Marie says:
Looks lovely there on the beach.
But what a strange flag. Had to "google" and saw that previously they were blindfolded and turned to the left but then the flag was changed in 1999.
There is a lot you don't know. 🙂

BP, yes, it does remind me of the English cross! How do you mean he took it personally...?
Ann-Marie, how nice that you found out more! I didn't realise that they had been turned in another direction. The blindfold was previously seen on the Corsican version as well, as a blindfold for decapitations. So this is apparently a "mitigated" variant...!

And how was the night/morning in the completely shadowless car park......? 🙂

Mr Steve says:
Sardinia - Corsica 4 - 1, if I may put it so disgracefully. There has probably been a lot of violence on both these islands, violence that takes all kinds of forms.
Speaking of football, by the way. Cagliari was relegated from Serie A last season.

Annika says:
Yes, what a strange flag. I don't think I've ever seen it before.
COOL that you saw my post. Yes, I almost jumped when Freedom suddenly lay there. SO nice!!!
Wonderful with a houseboat. I would love it. I think it is fascinating to see the boats that are there. AND so COOL that you CAN!!! Not locked up or anything like you might think. It is just to go out on the piers. Yes, you really live in a very cosy place when you are at home!!!

Anja, haha, the night was good... but it got hot in the morning, I promise! We didn't stay very long after breakfast 😉.
Steve, yes, there has always been violence here, at different times. We also see many remains from later wars, cannons and such. Thanks for the general knowledge about football and Cagliari, as I said, I am super bad at that 😉.
Annika, it was really fun to see the post with you! Especially to see pictures from home when you are not there! We love life on the boat. The gates to the piers are locked at 23 in the evening, but until then it is open for everyone to walk on the piers.
Ama de casa, too bad to complain... 😉.

Ditte says:
Different and special flag, to say the least. And its history is also interesting. And even more exciting with the "rainbow flag" underneath...Maybe there is a connection...?
I have been here on the headland, but have probably forgotten what it looked like. In any case, the sea looks very inviting.

Ditte, there are lots of different beaches on the headland and I thought it looked a bit different everywhere. The beaches further out were a bit smaller. Yes... I also reflected on the rainbow flag 😉.

Steel city anna says:
Very unpleasant flag! I thought it was in memory of my own victims but it was the other way round. I could have understood the first one a bit more. Imagine if we had dead Danes on our flag, or Swedes on theirs, I don't know who really drew the shortest straw in all the wars we have had, but it would be very strange 🙂.

Steel city Anna, can agree, it is very special to say the least. Would never ever work in a bigger and more influential country...
