We have been staying at the same campsite in North Macedonia for quite some time now: Sunrise camping in Struga. This is a family-owned small campsite that is nicely located right on Lake Ohrid and we really like it here. Then it is actually the case that we are waiting for mail too ...
Sunrise camping in North Macedonia
At Sunrise camping in Struga In North Macedonia, you can probably fit ten motorhomes/caravans, but most of the time it's much more sparse than that. Nevertheless, it is as if there is constant life and movement here. Right now we are joined by a small Polish caravan.
The other day a huge off-road "Bocklet" motorhome was parked next to us. We talked to the German couple who owned it and it turned out that they not only owned that particular car, but the entire company that makes them...
Otherwise, it's mostly small caravans that show up. Almost every evening a car, a small van or a few motorbikes drop in. Then the tents are folded up - or someone sleeps on a tent bed under the open sky. During the days and evenings, there is also a steady stream of people who just want to drop in for a beer in the small restaurant.
Private beach and restaurant
The campsite has its own beach with sunbeds where you can swim, and there are toilets, showers and really good WiFi. We have not seen a menu in the restaurant, but when we want to eat something there, the owner makes suggestions. "Maybe lamb?" "Fish today?" Then the lamb/fish appears in the company of bread, tzatziki, vegetables and chips.
In between, when we're not hanging out in the restaurant, the family spoils us by strolling over to the motorhome with one gift after another. Maybe one each raki (brandy), some sliced melon or a piece each byrek (a kind of filled pie, made of filo pastry).
Today we have spent time cleaning the car and washing clothes. And yes, we are waiting for a letter with the green card from the insurance company in Sweden. Our green card has expired and it is needed when crossing the borders outside the EU ...

Motorhome life is a wait sometimes. Remember when you were waiting for a Camping Acsi card somewhere in Portugal. Byrek - bird, fish or in between?

Solan, yes that time we had to wait a long time! We hope this will be shorter 😉 Byrek is a kind of pie with different fillings, such as minced meat or spinach.

Nice days for you to stand still and get a little pampered ? - we have shared luck this weekend ☺ mushroom safari at the lovely Lady & Lufsen's pitch on Friday / Saturday was super nice and today we rolled on to the nice Påarps farm and meet our Motorhome Travel IRL - how fun! So many nice motorhome men and nice motorhomes in a short weekend you get so happy ?

Yes, imagine the difference between southern European behaviour towards guests and the Scandinavian way of (not) thanking the regulars. For that family, you are income-generating regulars who should be treated accordingly, right!!!?
Googled Byrek and understand that the "tapas" already existed in Ottoman times. Not bad - finally something genuine.
It's good to see that there is no hardship while waiting for the green card. I hope it doesn't take as long as the camping card. On the other hand, it was relatively cold then and now it's warm and nice;-)

How nice! This is how I would like it to be if I'm away on holiday.
It feels so genuine and nice and on a small scale.
And yes, I am jealous! Absolutely! And I'm happy to admit it.

Matts, this is a very nice place!
Elisabeth, how hot is it for you? We have really hot days, but in the evenings/nights it gets cool...
Frankie & Co, were there any mushrooms? Fun with a meeting with Our Motorhome Travel! 🙂
BP, byrek is some kind of pie with a meat or spinach filling, for example. I understand that it is common for breakfast, but you can probably eat it at any time... We hope we won't have to wait too long! It's nice here and we like it very much, but it's a bit too remote for us to want to stay here too long (you can walk to Struga, but it's quite a long walk).
Ditte, this is really a nice and genuine place! 🙂
Shefik, we hope we don't have to wait too long for the green card! It's very nice here, but we can imagine rolling on relatively soon. But as I said, we don't know how long the post takes... Don't have a phone though... 😉 .
Lennart, most campsites here seem to be a bit smaller. Nice and more personal! 🙂
Steve, we feel well taken care of. Still, we hope we don't have to wait too long...

Ooh! Now I got a little interested. Such a Bocklet camper van must be perfect to have when you end up in narrow alleys... 😉.

Yes, a few litres of mushrooms were a bit unexpected in a dry forest and plan B with frozen / dried in addition and many delicious litres of yummy soup in the salon ? a real great evening at Lady & Lufsen's hospitable site!
Meeting Our Motorhome Journeys in 3D was just great fun - over a barbecue buffet and exchanging tips and ideas - exploring the nooks and crannies of motorhomes - you know?
Awesum qul!
