We had received the same restaurant tip from two completely independent people. So we "had" to try the Guvat restaurant here in Ksamil, Albania. And now we can also recommend this restaurant! The view of the sea is amazing and the food is both delicious and beautifully served. If you don't plan to come here, we can tempt you from a distance ...
Seafood platter for two at Guvat restaurant
We went big and ordered a seafood platter for two and a full litre of white wine. Before the food came in, we were served good bread with a small mess. After the main course, we each ordered a (huge) dessert, a caffe macchiato and a whisky (the most expensive one they had). The whole party ended up costing 450 SEK in total, which can't be said to be much for such a feast.
Of course you can eat significantly cheaper here in Albania, but if you want to go big, this is also the place to be! However, if you come when there are a lot of people, you have to be patient. The staff is nice and attentive, but when we were there they felt understaffed and had difficulty keeping up.
Despite this, we were very happy with our evening at the Guvat restaurant. The view of the sea is absolutely stunning and we had our most delicious and luxurious meal in a long time.

What a treat! Nice to be able to treat yourself. Albania has really not been a place you have longed for, but that will probably change now. It seems to be a really good place you have found. Are you staying extra long there now?

Steve, sometimes tips are good! Otherwise it can be hard to find the gems.
Henny, Albania is definitely a place to look forward to! 🙂 The plan is probably to stay relatively long in Albania, but not exactly in Ksamil. We would like to travel around and look around the country.

Solan, we're heading north along this coast. Italy we feel "finished" with. Have a great time on Gotland! (However, we are not on any island, but on the mainland of Albania, although we tramped out to some small islands yesterday ;))
Ama de casa, this whole country is affordable! 🙂

Albania seems to be a good option but I think it's too exotic for us and travelling there with animals probably won't work either. Take care and continue to enjoy the good food.

Looking forward to more reports.

Anders and Birgitta, you should of course choose what you think suits you!
Lennart, everything is affordable in Albania!
Ditte, we don't know much about Albanian cuisine yet, but we promise to report more. They seem inspired by Italy and there are also things like feta cheese, mossaka and lots of fish.
Frankie & Co, the price point allows you to indulge. We'll report more about the food as we go along 😉.
