For two days we have been hanging out at a nice campsite in the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro. When driving around the Bay of Kotor you see quite a few camping signs, but most "campsites" are private gardens with such steep driveways that it can't even be considered, unless you are a backpacker with a tent. But eventually we found camping Naluka in Morinj.
Camping Naluka
When we arrived at the Naluka campsite, it was actually in full. Here was a group of 18 French motorhomes travelling together! When they had just moved (all at once - imagine meeting them on the narrow roads here!) we could choose which site we wanted. Otherwise, this is a popular campsite, and even though it's September, new motorhomes, caravans and tents are constantly arriving.
Small beach and beach bar
There are excellent services at the campsite and the price of €20/day includes both electricity and free WiFi. Within a short walk there is a shop, restaurant and a charming little beach.
We're not big fans of huge sandy beaches with rows of sunbeds, but small places like this are nice. There is a small gravel beach and a small beach bar. The sea water is warm, but mixes here and there with the cool water from the river - refreshing!
From Montenegro to Croatia
When we felt ready at camping Naluka in Montenegro, it was time to leave for Croatia. The morning in Montenegro started well. At 8:15 the bread truck came as usual to the campsite in Montenegro with fresh bread. Shortly thereafter, a guy came by and sold freshly picked raspberries. Before we left, the owner gave us a bottle of red wine. And when we drove a little bit, we saw some guys sitting on the beach selling fresh mussels ...
The blue mussels cost €2/kilo and the 'other' (absolutely huge) mussels cost €12/kilo. We were naturally curious and bought two kilos of the former and one kilo of the latter. We asked what they were called and got the answer "Each village have a different name for them".
After this little shopping spree, we headed for the border with Croatia, with our sights set on Dubrovnik. In a way, it was nice that Montenegro is located between Albania and Croatia, so that you can gradually get used to modernity.
In Albania there are donkeys, horse-drawn carts and cows everywhere, but virtually no supermarkets. In Montenegro, there are certainly large supermarkets, but you can tell it's a corrupt country with black money, with everything from rusty old caravans to a record number of millionaires.
Croatia appears, as soon as you cross the border, as a very modern and well-functioning country. The roads are nice, the signage is good, it is clean and tidy and the campsite we arrive at is very modern (and expensive).

The last image - Looks very inviting. Like the shadows and
the high mountains in the background.

God how beautiful! Oh the turquoise water looks clear, clean and nice. I think it looks so "cosy" when both of you sit in front of your computers and "play", something that benefits us readers:-)

It looks very pleasant! I love the shade, the blue water, the mountains and the beach service.
But I also like kilometre-long chalk-white sandy beaches where I can walk far, turquoise water and as few tourists and sunbeds as possible. I have met this on Fiji....But it is not so common directly.

Funny with passing boats at the camping site. Wise to avoid steep descents, my fear...Hua!

Ruth in Virginia, glad you like the picture! It's a nice little beach 🙂 .
BP, the water is incredibly clear here! And yes, we do like to "play" with our computers 🙂 .
Ditte, the type of beaches you describe are nice if there aren't too many people - but there should still be some nature, e.g. green and palm trees and so on. Such paradise beaches can be found in some places, but perhaps not so often in Europe. Long beaches without nature, but with high hotels and lots of sunbeds are a bit boring... In Europe we probably like small beautiful beaches the most. We found the most beautiful ones in Corsica and Sardinia!
Steve, it's nice to have the river right next to you 😉.
Rolle and Carina, I think so! It's nice here 🙂
Lasse Permelin, the mountains make the nature here in the Bay of Kotor dramatic and beautiful!
Solan, it is unpleasant when it is too steep downhill. Here it was instead too steep uphill - and then we hit the overhang in the back and break the car... The boats that go by are a bit charming - there are small rubber boats, rowboats and all kinds of small boats 😉.

Looks heavenly nice there too 🙂
But ooo... What a nightmare! Imagine meeting 18 motorhomes in a row on a narrow road... Thanks for giving me new phobias! 😉

It's important to find the gems and you are good at it. I say like AMA.... 18 motorhomes on a narrow road and meeting them! Then it's important not to be the one driving on the cliff side! *shudders*

Ama de casa, haha, I thought you were about to cure your phobias 😉.
Lennart, isn't it?
Veiken, haha, can only agree! 😉
Eva Sollén, you would definitely like the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro!
Matts, it has been quite easy to find cosy places in this part of Europe. Many small family-owned campsites where you are well taken care of! 🙂
