The Cetina in Croatia is a 100 km long river in the Dalmatian region of southern Croatia. In and around the river, which flows into the Adriatic Sea, you can experience everything from rafting and canyoning to relaxing boat trips and hiking in the lush nature. Join us for a wonderful boat trip on the Cetina River in Croatia!
Boat trip on the river Cetina
You may recall that we told you about the pirates that raided this river in the 13th and 14th centuries? Today there are plenty of activities and nature experiences for tourists here, and we decided to try a boat trip up the river. The boat trips are organised from the river mouth in Omis and we had to pay 80 kunas (105 kr) per person. It is low season now, so probably it is a bit more expensive during high season.
After jumping on board, we had to chug slowly up the river, in a small boat together with about 20 other tourists. The river is surrounded by high mountains and the landscape is intensely green - very, very beautiful! Expect a three-hour excursion and enjoy the glorious Croatia.
Break for lunch or a walk
After about 45 minutes we moored at a jetty, and here we had an hour before we had to be back at the boat. We used the time to walk through the dense green vegetation and follow the river further upstream. Others chose to have lunch at the large lunch restaurant strategically located at the jetty.
Other activities on the Cetina River in Croatia
If you're not satisfied with a quiet boat ride in nature, there are other activities that involve a greater influx of adrenaline. A little higher up the river, you can try rafting (difficulty level 1-2) and if you prefer to cross the over the river, you can try ziplining.
There are also opportunities in the area for hiking, climbing and cycling. canyoning. We took a long walk in the intensely green terrain and there were plenty of trails that were easy to walk on. So something for everyone - what would you choose?

Wow! That boat trip offered a lot out of the ordinary, I must say. Oh what an amazingly beautiful landscape with strong colours.
What I would choose... just like you, I would go for the zipline - from below with the camera;-)

Thank you for this! Lovely! Very enticing pictures.
I'm a bit wobbly and would of course try both rafting, zipline (have tried both before and really like it) even the boat trip I would of course also like to do.

Mr Steve says:
When I see the picture of the boat, I get an Amazonian vibe.
For me, watching the zipline like this on the screen is enough.

I got a bit of a climbing bug when I saw those rocks, but I've always wanted to try rafting too! Aren't you going to try rafting!) 🙂 🙂

BP, haha, I also thought it was a perfect perspective to see the zipline! 😉
Ditte, you are so brave and cool! 🙂 We have also done rafting. Zipline is probably not for me because I am afraid of heights, but Peter would certainly like to try!
Steve, zipline is not for me either as I am afraid of heights, but it is fun to watch!
Åsa, we have tried rafting in New Zealand (level 2-3) and in Lycksele (level 4). In NZ it was great fun, but in Lycksele... huh! Peter thought it was fun, but I was happy that I survived 😉 Here in Omis it seems to be a very nice variant (level 1-2), so it doesn't feel necessary to try it since we have done it before.

On the way home from Stockholm and the new grandchild little Lou, I read through your latest blog posts. So beautiful in the Balkans! The nature with mountains, rivers, lake and not least old cultural buildings. People have really lived here in cities for many centuries. You describe it so well. Thank you so much!

hello
We are now at Camping Eling on Lake Ohrid. Albania has so far exceeded our expectations. We are alone here except for another Swedish motorhome family. It seems that we have run out of motorhomes. We are following your journey with excitement and will continue south ourselves. We wish you good luck.

Inga M, thank you for your nice comment! It warms my heart! The Balkans have a lot to offer, and it's great if we can pass it on!
Bo Emilsson, oh how nice that you write! Really fun that you have had a positive experience of Albania so far! Funny also that you found Erlin camping at Lake Ohrid, which we liked! Are you travelling further in Albania or Macedonia now... and do you continue to Greece? Or what is the plan?

I would like to choose canyoning, but I have to realise that hiking is what I am probably best suited for 🙂.
How lovely, and somewhat different it looks with this dense greenery and the river - I got a bit jealous again 😉.

Frankie & Co, canyoning seems cool, but challenging! 😉

Ama de casa says:
Oh how nice that looked - you really find great places and trips! 🙂
I would probably settle for the actual boat ride and walk. Tried zipline in Cuba in 2008. Fun - but it didn't add to the flavour 🙂 .
