Croatia's oldest town Stari Grad is located on the island of Hvar, in a small bay on the north-west side of the island. The historic town (Pharos) was founded by Greeks in 384 BC, and today it is still a town with narrow, charming alleys and squares. The city also has a lovely harbour promenade. Join us in Croatia's oldest town of Stari Grad on the island of Hvar!

To Hvar and visit a naturist campsite
We made our way over to Hvar Island (Sucuraj) by ferry from Drvenik on the mainland.
We ended up at a naturist campsite called Nudist camp Vrboska, where we got a nice spot by the water. The view from our bedroom window was really awesome and sleeping with the campervan almost outside the window (because it was so hot!) was a special feeling. We had only twenty metres from the motorhome down to the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic. Fantastic!
Croatia's oldest town Stari Grad on the island of Hvar
We parked the campervan in a car park on the outskirts of the city and then strolled around the cosy alleys. We admired the large boats along the quay and had lunch at one of the many outdoor cafés. Our mushroom risotto was delicious! Stari Grad is today a tourist resort in the centre of the county. Data themes, and is located on the north-west side of the island in a long bay. You can walk the harbour promenade all the way to Lanterna beach along the waterfront.
The city is quiet and there is no night-time partying! Walking in narrow alleys and small squares among restaurants, past the old church, feels historic. Outside the city centre you will find vineyards and olive groves.
The pharmacy in Stari Grad
Loaded with a lot of empty pill bottles, we went to the pharmacy to try to get some medication. However, the pharmacy turned out to be closed between 13:00 and 17:00 (I never learnt this about siesta!) and this was just the beginning of a slightly longer medicine hunting adventure. Since I'm tired and still have a headache, I'll tell you the rest of the story tomorrow from the town of Hvar.
See more in the neighbourhood
While in Starigrad, you will of course want to visit the town of Hvar on the island of Hvar. You can also visit the beautiful neighbouring island of Brac. On the mainland, you can experience the cosy and historically interesting city of Split. Other cosy towns nearby are Omis and Trogir.

What a charming sweet city! Oh so heavenly and cruel that you got your migraine back. I actually feel incredibly sorry for you here. Hope you got hold of something that could help you. Actually keep your fingers really hard here.
PS. You won't believe me now, but it's true. Sure I wrote in a comment that the migraines subside after menopause, yep I did. Yesterday I told the husband that neither of us has suffered from the misery for months. I absolutely should not have said that, because today I had to eat it: a #&/%¤&&& triple attack in less than three hours. After "fantastic" fireworks and a hefty pill intake, all I really want to do now is throw up and get rid of the cotton in a dull throbbing head. DS.

A really cosy city to stroll around in. It's a shame that you'll be suffering from migraines again.
Hopefully the pharmacies had something good to offer so you don't have to suffer.

Sorry about the migraine.
Hope you get rid of it soon!

Nah, no migraine again - what a cliffhanger you wrote us 😉 Hope for the best resolution in your next post!
I greet you from a grey sky with rain on the maple trees that are starting to change into autumn colours.

Both a voluntary and an involuntary cliffhanger. Have previously thought of commenting on your approach with a single image and short text as a first step in a post. It is important to entice the reader to continue - and you really know how to do that. The second "continue in the next issue" is of course not as funny, but I hope to read that the migraine attack passed quickly.

You seem to be in a very cosy city. Very boring with migraines. Had it for a period when life was very hectic, around 45, but then I have thankfully avoided it. Hope you get some good help. Hugs Elisabeth

Asa, unfortunately the migraine is really stubborn. Vomiting today and still not found any good medicine. Write again as soon as I have the opportunity.
BP, no, is it true? Ugh, how sad! I usually hope that it will decrease after menopause... Hope you feel good again! My migraine is extremely stubborn this time...
Steve, unfortunately it is not so easy to get medicines in Croatia, as I have learnt. I will write again as soon as I get the opportunity.
Lennart, it's a great city! And thanks, I'm working on it... 😉.
Frankie & Co, sorry for the cliffhanger... 😉 It's a wonder I'm able to blog these days 😉 (At the same time, it's nice to do something positive in the midst of the misery, if that's possible).
Henny, thank you for your feedback! Glad to hear that you like the arrangement! The last "cliffhanger" was mostly because it became too hard to go through all the pictures and write about everything 😉 I will return as soon as I get the opportunity!
Elisabeth, I'm glad you haven't had a migraine lately! I've often wondered why the attacks come, but I can't figure it out...
Stina, really nice and cosy city!
Marija, thanks for the comment and links! 🙂

Great pictures from a nice and cosy city. I recognise a bit, but I was there at the time when the digital camera was in its infancy and my pictures are in an album.
Your migraine is bad, and I think it got better with painkillers....
I hope you'll be back on your feet soon.

Oh, how nice, but how sad with the headache... Hope it has worked out with both medicine and that the pain is gone!
The siesta thing... I never learn either. Many shops are open all the time, which makes me forget that it doesn't apply to everyone.

Ditte, really nice city! Also recognise that with pictures that you have in albums... Painkillers were not easy in Croatia, they are very hard on it. I'll tell you more soon!
Deciree, we can highly recommend Croatia. Very beautiful and clean and tidy. The only downside is that it is expensive.
Ama de casa, maybe that's why you don't learn! Agreed, some shops are open and others are not...
